*Episode 1: All Together Again!

The season begins in February 2015. John & Alyssa arrive at the main house from Florida. Kelly explains where the family is at. Alyssa is expecting Allie in a few weeks. Bradley is a newborn. Erin is in her second trimester and Michael is in a courtship. Alyssa says travelling very pregnant means they have to take a lot of restroom stops. The reason they are in town is for I Love You day, the couple’s dinner, and a baby shower for Alyssa. Everyone is excited to be reunited and they begin catching up. Kelly is glad Alyssa is there to help her plan.

Right as the Websters arrive, Michael is heading to the airport to pick up Brandon. She is anxious to see him and glad he can join them for I Love You Day. She goes to the airport with Tori, Carlin, and a bunch of the little ones. They go inside to greet him and gives him a huge hug when she sees him. Michael is so glad they are actually together and that she gets to hug him. They drive back to the main house. Kelly is glad he is there since he is a big help.

Kelly has a meeting to begin planning I Love You Day. The parents explain that the family got so many gifts from relatives around Christmas that they wanted to exchange gifts as a family for a different holiday and Alyssa suggested Valentine’s Day. They loved the idea and it is a special time to have a big dinner, dress up, and be together. Erin is cooking. Nathan is in charge of hanging a piñata. For the shower, Erin & Kelly will plan games, Carlin will host them, and Michael & Brandon will do food. Suddenly, there is a surprise in the driveway and the family jumps up. The surprise is for Whitney: a barbershop quartet gives her a flower and sings to her. She is genuinely touched as they serenade her. Zach says he was proud of himself for thinking of that surprise. Tori and Carlin say he got his “romantic-ness” from their dad, and Kelly agrees that they got the message that it was important to nurture your marriage from Gil. Tori asks Siri if “romantic-ness” is a word; it’s not.

Now it is time for the pre-I Love You Day couple’s dinner. Gil & Kelly, Whitney & Zach, Chad & Erin, John & Alyssa and Michael & Brandon are present. Erin has brought conversation starters during dinner. The first is a funny story from when you were dating. Erin says that when she first met Chad, she told her whole family about him, so when Callie finally met him, she exclaimed “Erin says she’s gonna marry you!” Brandon says Michael once spilled a cold glass of water all over his lap at a restaurant. Then they talk about what surprised you about the other person. Kelly says it was Gil’s snoring. Gil says he didn’t know he snored. Whitney says Zach doesn’t know how to close cabinet doors. Chad says Erin left the fridge open.

The next conversation starter is each couple’s fondest memory together. John says his is finally being alone with Alyssa after the wedding. Chad says being able to feel Carson kick.  The family says this was a special moment. They are eating at a hibachi grill, which is currently Kelly’s favorite. Kelly says she likes the entertainment of them cooking in front of her as she is eating. The chef prepares food for them, and then they eat. Gil says he was glad they were able to talk about their relationships and it made the whole night meaningful.

At the main house, they are drawing names for gift exchange. They did this before, but they had decided not to keep it a secret and kids were just asking what their siblings want; however, this meant there was no thoughtfulness behind the gifts. So, they decided to redraw the names and they are keeping it a secret this time. The little ones are delighted with their secret and won’t even tell the producers (other than Jud, who spills the beans: he has Zach & Whitney.)

A group goes shopping for their gifts at a local drug store.  The little kids want to shop by themselves. Kelly & Gil try to steer them in the right direction as they go. The family finishes their shopping and thanks the employees for their help. Gil starts putting back stuff to try to save some money. But in the end, they get their gifts and go back to the main house.

Meanwhile, Carlin is rearranging the furniture to fit the whole family at one table. The little ones are helping bake in the kitchen. Gil sneaks Tori out to the van to help him bring in all the gifts he got for Kelly. He wanted to fill up a basket of gifts for her. Tori gets Carlin to help arrange the basket of gifts. Meanwhile, Isaiah is guarding the door while Brandon makes Gil & Kelly a surprise. While all this is happening, Nathan and Lawson are bringing a crane into the house to hang the piñata on. They back the truck up to the house and sent the arm of the crane in through the front door.

In the bedroom, Kelly is wrapping presents. She tells Gil she snuck in with gifts she was getting ready for the big day. She was also hiding Gil’s present. The family gets dressed up and brings their gifts downstairs to get them ready to open. Finally, all is prepared, and it is time for a prayer lead by Gil.  After the prayer, the family eats and then Gil talks about how it’s easy to show love when someone is showing it back but it’s hard when someone hurts your feelings. Gil says that is when you forgive them and keep bitterness and hurt feelings out. After the lesson, it is gift time.

They begin opening gifts and everyone is thrilled with what they got from their secret pal. Everyone is great about saying thank you, other than Jeb, who just wants to open his toy. Callie laughs at her secret pal’s antics. The rest of this is a montage of gift opening and grateful hugs between siblings. Gil gets new jeans, which his kids say are fashionable, to replace his grandpa jeans. They all laugh when he opens them. Next, it is time for Brandon’s surprise: an actual family tree in a little pot with everyone’s pictures on it. Gil & Kelly love that it is thrifty, homemade, and heartfelt. Gil says Brandon is saving for a ring. Next, it is finally time to hit the piñata, which is suspended by a crane through the front door. This piñata is so tough even the older brothers cannot bust it open. Gil is finally successful, and everyone scoops up the candy. Finally, they gather for a photo. Gil says it was a successful day. Next up: Alyssa’s baby shower. Kelly says she is totally unprepared and will be making a midnight grocery store run.

The next day, the family is in crunch mode trying to get the shower decorated and the food laid out. They aren’t at their house; the venue looks like a pretty standard rental hall. It is hec-tic, Tori says. Carlin says we all know hectic has two syllables. People begin to arrive. Gil has one job: watching Jeb, who keeps dashing away and hiding in the curtains. Gil says he has the hardest job of all. Jeb is crawling under the seats. Finally, the shower comes together, and Gil welcomes everyone. Carlin begins the games. First, John & Alyssa have to match the price with the baby item in a certain amount of time. Gil & Kelly go next, and then Gil’s siblings, and then Kelly’s mom and Nathan. Alyssa & John get 2, Gil & Kelly got 2, so did Gil’s siblings and Nathan and Meema. Mama Jane & Papa Bill got one. Next, they had a contest to sculpt a baby out of playdough. Next, the contestants have to guess with a ribbon how big they think Alyssa’s belly is. Everyone went really big. The games conclude and it is gift time. There are many gifts, and the little girls think they will not fit in the car. Gil asks Brandon if there would be a good time for both sets of parents to meet. Brandon is delighted and they decide to finalize plans later. The family is all delighted with all the grandbabies and they feel very lucky to be where they are.

*Episode 2: Future In-Laws?

At the Bates home, Gil, Kelly, and Michael are leaving to go to Chicago to see Brandon and his parents. They have met before, but they have not all gotten together since the courtship. Jeb wants to come. Tori, Chad, and Erin will hold down the fort and Jeb is demanding to come along. Gil & Kelly joke that he is a full-time job. Chad & Erin see this as parenting practice.

The Bates arrive in Chicago. Kelly says he should propose on the trip; Gil doesn’t want to rush it. Kelly says she and Michael want to rush it. Brandon says this is the perfect place to meet up. Kelly says when you get married you do marry their family. Mr. Keilen says it doesn’t take too much to love their daughter, and Gil agrees. The families are excited to be together and the families are a good fit. Kelly says the Bates boys have been fighting to get Brandon to move to Tennessee. Gil mentions that he wants to try deep dish pizza; everyone agrees that is a good idea.

Back in Tennessee, Erin has decided to redo her parents’ room as a surprise. Erin & Chad assemble the troops and they move furniture out of the room. Chad repaints and repairs the furniture. The middle boys help Chad with that while the little boys watch. The girls hang pictures in the room. They work on laying out a collage wall.

Back in Chicago, they go out for pizza. They are enjoying hanging out and talking about the relationship. Michael & Brandon have been courting for 14 months, and Kelly really wants an engagement. Gil jokes that he isn’t that subtle. Michael says it is a long courtship, but she is glad to have a chance to really get to know him before marriage.

Back in TN, Zach arrives to help with the projects. Chad and Zach work together and hang out. Zach is really enjoying getting to know Bradley. Chad says he is a little nervous with the baby coming, and Zach says he was too.  The two are glad they have been so close together, and they appreciate each other’s advice.

Back in Chicago, Kelly is back to talking about the engagement. Kelly wants to know what season he’ll propose in. Brandon doesn’t answer. Kelly asks Michael about moving to Chicago; she says the cold and the driving are her two biggest fears, but she will adjust. Gil says it is bittersweet that she will be leaving but they are happy she has found the one.

The next day, in Chicago, the tourists have gone to a paint your own pottery shop to get out of the cold for a while. Everyone selects a piece to paint and they enjoy chatting. Brandon says he is starting to formulate plans and he wants to talk to Gil about it.

Back in TN, Erin has a food craft for her siblings. They have fun making their snacks into shapes before eating it. Jeb is a little fussy, but Erin convinces him to behave. They enjoy this overall. Lawson jokes that in the Bates family, if you play with your food, someone else will take it from you and eat it first.

In Chicago, at the restaurant, Brandon and Gil sneak off the to the restroom for Brandon to ask for Gil’s blessing and told him the date he wanted to propose. Gil says don’t tell Kelly, because she cannot keep a secret. Back at the table, Kelly pulls out a planner and says they can pick a day right there. Brandon says it might be time to announce the day: Valentine’s Day 2016. All the parents perk up, and then Brandon says that he is kidding. Michael thinks it is funny. Kelly says she will never get the date out of Gil. At the end, they all say goodbye and are sad to part ways.

Back in TN, the travelers arrive home and are greeted by a gaggle of kids. Erin & Chad are relieved. The kids are excited to show them the surprise. They show them the redecorated bedroom, and they are so surprised by the paint and the fixed-up furniture. They are delighted by this surprise. Gil & Kelly are really touched by the gesture. But it is time for bed after a lot of traveling.

*Episode 3: High Risk, High Hopes

Erin & Chad are at Dr. Vick’s since she has a high-risk pregnancy; they are worried about the risk of stillbirth. She is taking blood thinner, which is risky. Everyone is nervous about what might happen at the birth. Gil says there is nothing to do but pray and encourage Erin. Dr. Vick meets them in the exam room, and they say they are in the last three months and says that they will keep doing what they are doing. Dr. Vick says the condition is untreated so there is a lot to worry about, but with treatment and careful monitoring they will be okay. Dr. Vick will continue to monitor the situation as they go.

At the main house, the Bates kids are playing outside, working on a fort. The middle guys are working with the little girls. All the Bates extoll the virtues of spending lots of time outside since they don’t have technology. The older boys come out and compare their fort efforts as kids. Lawson and Nathan spend a while re-litigating their old fort dispute while the little guys show off their fort. The older boys offer to take the little ones to the driving range, and the little boys accept.

The guys go to the driving range and talk about how they are busy, but it is awesome to spend time together with them.  The guys all struggle with golf. Zach says it is like the blind leading the blind. Nathan says that once Lawson hit him above the eye with a golf club because he got in front of his swing. The younger guys are thrilled that they got to go on this outing with their older brothers.

At Erin & Chad’s house, Erin is cooking and the family recounts how she didn’t used to cook but now she does. She is an excellent chef. Chad come home and Erin greets him and directs him to start the gravy. Zach & Whitney are coming over for dinner, and both couples are excited for dinner together. Whitney says Bradley is easy to take places since he has been passed around his whole life. Whitney says when they go out to dinner, they take turns holding him and eating. Whitney says Bradley has a lot of stuff for a little guy. They get ready and head off.

Back at the main house, the middle guys are back to work on their fort. They have heard they will have a sneak attack from the older brothers. Both sides load air soft guns and prepare themselves. Nathan says the airsoft guns are pretty safe—as long as you wear glasses you won’t have permanent damage. The older guys come out and the fight happens. The older guys get to the fort pretty quickly. The girls (and Gil) watch from the window and laugh. They keep playing and the middle boys end up winning back their fort again.

At Erin & Chad’s, Zach, Whit, and Bradley arrive for dinner. Chad welcomes them in, and they greet each other. Erin serves dinner and Chad holds Bradley. Erin & Chad talk about what life will be like when Carson arrives. Erin says she is feeling great and Zach says it is scary to see her dealing with these complications. Erin talks about how nervous she gets when the baby doesn’t move for a little. Erin says it is scary but they’re just praying everything goes well.

*Episode 4: Meema Moves In

The family is at the orthodontist, for Josie and Trace to get their braces. Kelly says this makes 8 kids total for their family. Carlin is also there. Trace goes first, and then Josie. Josie tries to keep her face off camera while she is getting braces. Gil & Kelly joke about the amount they’ve spent at the orthodontist. Kelly says some relatives have done it as gifts, or done monthly plans, and traded some tree work. Their orthodontist offers a 5% discount for each additional sibling, which helps. Trace says, “pain really hurt me” after getting them. Josie and Trace both says it feels really weird right now, but the end result will be worth it. The little girls are not looking forward to braces.

Meema & her husband Ed are thinking of moving to Tennessee and going house hunting. Kelly says moving closer would allow them to better care for her in time. They meet the real estate agent (from Bailey’s—which is Whit’s future firm!). They want a low maintenance and handicap accessible house. The first place did not have a first-floor bedroom, but it does have a nice view. The next house has a lot of grass, which Kelly says Lawson will help with. The second house is nice inside and Kelly says that it is her style but no roll in shower, and the location isn’t quite right. Kelly says they might think about building. They ask the real estate agent to show them lots. Josie and Katie say Meema has a “rich lady house” and they will live with her.

The kids are having a sleepover at Whitney’s while Gil is building a surprise swing set with the older guys. After the garden debate, Kelly is getting her swing set up on the hill. Tomorrow, they are going to the zoo with Meema. Lawson goes to mow while the others make plans. Zach is concerned about the amount of work. Lawson mows and watches them debate.  They get a plan and send Lawson to the store while the others start with the materials they’ve got. Night sets on the first part of their plans.

The next day, the guys are getting started on the swing set and it becomes clear there is a lot of work to do. Meanwhile, the younger ones are off at the Zoo with Whitney, Bradley, and Meema. They enjoy looking at the different animals: a fox, a talkative parrot, a porcupine, and monkeys. They then go to the feeding area and start feeding sheep and goats. The kids are having a fun time. Katie is disappointed she can’t get a llama to spit. The little ones feed camels, who are aggressive about their food.

Back at the house, the guys are making slow progress. Gil tells Meema to delay coming back to the main house until 5:30 and the guys say there is no way they will finish on time. They struggle to get the telephone pole to the top of the supports, and they finish the frame in time for them to come home. There was no swing up there, but the middle boys are delighted with the surprise and race up there to see it. All the little ones follow and are excited for the project. Gil apologizes for not getting the swings up yet but promises they will get it finished sometime. Nathan says the hardest thing about a project isn’t getting started, it’s finishing.

In the house, the family eats dinner before church. Michael has made a big dinner. Meema snuggles Bradley. The kids say this is how it will be with her here if she moves to TN. Kelly is excited to have her close to them soon.

*Episode 5: Blessings and New Beginnings?

The Bates are preparing for the arrival of “the girls,” some of the marrieds, and Erin’s friend Kelsey and her husband. The “girls” are friends named Ashley and Anastasia Salyer who are visiting for spring break. Kelly says some of the kids are having attractions and the parents don’t necessarily pick the people they invite. Kelly says the rule is a boy and girl can’t be in a room alone together. Gil says it would be overwhelming to visit their house, but the Salyers take it in stride. They live in the Bronx, and Josie notes they talk really fast.

Erin, Chad, her friend Kelsey, Kelsey’s husband, and daughter arrive next. The Bates are excited to see Kelsey again, since she was a dear friend of Erin’s in college. Kelly says everyone is glad Erin is to the point of her pregnancy where she is having a shower. Kelly says the Bates usually invite everyone to their shower, but Erin wants a traditional, women only shower. Kelsey is taking care of most of the shower, and Kelly only has to do food. After the women talk it through and decide the shower is in a good place, it is time for dinner and fellowship. They play cards, Michael holds Kelsey’s baby, and they sing hymns and read their Bibles. Kelly says if someone is attracted to someone, usually the other siblings figure it out.

Since Ashely and Anastasia are from New York, the Bates decide to show them country life by going horseback riding. The other siblings say this is so Lawson and Nathan can show off. Both girls are nervous around the houses, but they manage to get them out on the trail. The Salyers struggle with the horses, but they do okay and eventually finish the ride.

The next stop is one of the Bates’ favorite restaurants, which overlooks the Smoky Mountains, to show the Salyers the sights. Nathan puts his arm behind Ashley’s back to show her the sights, and Lawson makes fun of her for it. Kelly says both girls are outgoing, and Erin says she enjoyed getting to know them. Kelly says that in order for a relationship to progress to courtship, you have to get to know the person and feel like their best friend. Nathan says he thinks they enjoyed their visit. Lawson says they may want to come back someday and gives Nathan a look. Nathan says you never know.

It is time for Erin’s shower. Kelsey has put time into setting it up. Kelly notices that the younger Bates are missing, and it is because no one told Carlin she was supposed to drive. They arrive, and Mrs. Paine welcomes everyone to the shower and prays. Kelly tells everyone to fill their plate. Erin greets guests and receives a message from someone with a Bible. Then, it is time for games. First, they have a game where they were given a card that said “baby” in different languages and they had to guess the language. Next, they put a flashcard on their head and tried to draw a baby. The results are hilarious. Next, it is time to open gifts. Erin is overwhelmed with everyone’s generosity.  Last, they do a balloon release in honor of Erin’s miscarriages. Erin is touched by this remembrance. Erin says you don’t want to dwell on the past, but it is good to remember. Everyone gathers around to sing Amazing Grace. Chad says it is special to be this close and he can’t wait to see Carson for the first time.

*Episode 6: Brandon Pops the Question

Gil is working with some boys out in the yard when he gets a call from Brandon. On the Chicago trip, he asked for permission to propose, and Gil is excited but lacking any further details. Gil is surprised to hear he wants to propose in Washington, DC. Gil suggests telling Michael to surprise him, and then she wouldn’t suspect anything by going to DC. Brandon also suggests not telling any of the other Bates to keep it a total surprise for them. Gil says everyone has been waiting for the proposal after this long courtship.

In Chicago, Brandon goes to a jeweler. Brandon said it was important to him to design a unique ring. He introduces himself to the jeweler, who he has emailed to talk about ring design. The ring has both of their initials with three stones surrounding the center diamond, symbolizing God in the center of their relationship. In a talking head, Josie praises Brandon’s creativity. The middle boys lament the price of engagement rings since they’re just metals and stones. Brandon is glad this is doable, budget-wise. Brandon also mentions the time-crunch that he was planning on proposing in three weeks.

Back at the Bates’ home, Michael tells Kelly that Brandon is going to DC and asks if she can ask him if she can join him. Kelly checks her calendar and says it would work. Gil suggests that Michael surprise him there. Kelly says Brandon has surprised her several times, and she should return the favor. Michael thinks it would be fun, and plans to ask his sister, Angie, what she thinks since Angie lives in DC. Michael talks to her, and Angie thinks it will be fun and good for him. Michael is a little worried about surprising him, but Angie reassures her. Angie is, of course, also coordinating with Brandon.

Back in Chicago, Brandon returns to the jewelry store to pick up the completed ring. Brandon is excited by the finished product and says it is better than he imagined. He thanks the owner of the store and prepares to head to DC.

Gil & Kelly are planning to go to DC, but Alyssa surprises them by going into labor on her due date. They rush to the airport, and once they arrive, they get a text with a picture of their new granddaughter. Gil & Kelly still head to Florida to meet the new baby. Gil & Kelly arrive with balloons and flowers and are excited to meet Allie for the first time. Alyssa says it was special to have this relaxed time to meet her. Alyssa says it is funny to think about Jud and Jeb as uncles. Gil & Kelly enjoy spending time helping the Websters.  Gil & Kelly have dinner with Alyssa & John but warn them it will be a bit rushed. They have to catch a plane to go be at Michael’s engagement. Alyssa & John are excited to hear the big news. Alyssa is delighted that Michael thinks she is surprising Brandon, and Gil & Kelly are hoping this trip to Florida helps hide their surprise final destination.  They hate to leave their new granddaughter but are heading to the airport for the proposal.

In DC, Brandon plans the proposal plans with his sister. Brandon has planned a treasure hunt with the ring at the end. They talk over the plans and Angie helps give some guidance on the DC area. The last stop is at great falls, where he will propose. Angie asks to see the ring, and Brandon says he wants Michael to be the first to see it. They go scout out locations and plan to avoid the crowds visiting the cherry blossoms.

Michael is hiding at a coffee shop in DC and Angie sends Brandon out on an errand. Michael arrives at Angie’s and they are excited to see each other. Becky is also there, and excited to see Michael. Brandon returns, and Michael opens the door to let him in. He feigns surprise at seeing her, and they have a big hug. Michael says Angie has given her a bunch of fun sightseeing to do, if he isn’t busy, and Brandon says he doesn’t work on Sundays. So sightseeing is on.

They go see the National Harbor and ride a large Ferris Wheel to look at the sights. Brandon says the view is “neat.” Brandon suggests they check out the cherry blossoms, and Angie says the best time is getting up before sunrise. Brandon was worried as the Bates are night people, but Michael agrees. The Keilen sisters think he has done a good job of keeping it cool but is nervous about everything he has to do tomorrow. They ride a ship in the National Harbor and sit by the water and eat. Brandon is getting more and more nervous.

The tension has mounted because Trace saw on Find my Friends that Gil is in Washington, DC. The Bates siblings have realized the engagement is happening. They are all impressed with Brandon’s plan. Kelly called Brandon to warn him that the siblings are aware. Lawson yells that they are going to head to DC to track them down.

The next day, Brandon & Michael watch the sunrise and take a few pictures with the cherry blossoms. Brandon says he has to leave for a little bit to work but he will come back later. While he is gone, he has something set up for her to do. He gives her the first clue, and then he leaves. Michael reads the first clue with Becky. They head to go find the next clue, and Becky helps guide her a little. Christy, another of Brandon’s sisters, is ensuring the clue won’t blow away. It is in the hollow of a tree and she hides so Michael won’t see her. Michael finds the clue, and there is a DVD in it. Michael watches it on a laptop, and it is a fairytale, but it is their story. He sings the whole time.  The next spot is the Washington Monument, and Brandon and Kristy go place the next clue.  Michael realizes this isn’t last minute and that she didn’t surprise Brandon after all. Michael cries and hugs Becky, and says she is glad Becky is there with her. Brandon calls to check in and is glad she is finding the clues. Michael enjoys finding all the clues and she cries at each one.

In Great Falls Park, VA, the parents are meeting Brandon in preparation for the big moment. The parents hide so they won’t ruin Michael’s surprise. Brandon is there waiting for her after the rush of all the planning. The parents are sitting and very excited for the big moment.  Michael arrives at the park, and Becky points her in the direction of Brandon. The parents see Michael approach, and Michael spots Brandon and gives him a big hug. She cries again in his arms and talks about how priceless that moment was. In each clue, Michael got different pieces of a puzzle. Brandon tells her the symbolism of each one and puts them together to make a ring. The parents and Becky are crying as they watch. Brandon finishes, and then Brandon gets on one knee and proposes. Michael cries as she says yes, and that she’s wanted to marry him since the first day she met him. He puts the ring on her finger, and she thinks it is beautiful and perfect. The parents come over to surprise them, and they give them hugs and celebrate with them. In the talking heads, Tori and Carlin cry thinking about Michael moving out. Everyone is emotional with how special the moment was, and Michael says she could live that day over a million times.

*Episode 7: Doctor’s Orders

Michael, Kelly, and Gil are having a meeting to sit down and start wedding planning. They have a lot of work in a short amount of time. Kelly says they give each child a set amount of money for the wedding, but if the child goes over that, it is on them. Kelly says this makes sense since there are so many girls and the bride’s parents usually pay for the wedding. Kelly says they save, shop smart, and use potlucks to help save money.  Kelly asks how many people Michael wants to invite; Michael says she wants 500. Kelly also says her sisters will provide the cake and flowers as their gifts. Michael & Brandon have a lot to do, but the biggest thing is to find a church. Michael and Kelly head out to go look at churches with Erin and Whitney. They are worried about getting the date. Michael says she wants to also serve BBQ chicken with a side of chips. They arrive at the first church and love the look of it, but Michael is worried that it doesn’t go with her colors. Kelly asked about the wedding party, and Michael says it is not finalized yet.

Back at the house, Aunt Kay arrives, and the younger kids rush to greet her. Kelly says Kay is her oldest sister and she is a baker. She is planning on practicing icing with some of the little kids. They get to use the round tip and the star tip, and Kay uses whipped cream icing, as it is the best to learn with. There is a montage of the kids practicing, laughing, and sampling the icing. There is a little food fight that breaks out, and Callie covers her glasses with icing. Kay says this was messy and fun, and it is good to teach kids to have fun in the kitchen and not make it a chore.

Michael, Kelly, Erin, and Whitney arrive at the second church. Erin worries about the size here, and they try to measure how many people each pew can fit: Michael says 20, but they measure it themselves that it's more like 11. Kelly takes a video of the church to show Brandon. It isn’t available on the 15th, so it is cut from the options.

Wallace Memorial is the church where Erin’s piano teacher plays, and the teacher connected them to that church and got them in to look at it. Everyone loves the look of the church, and Erin loves their piano. This is Erin’s first choice. There is a potential conflict for August 15, and so Michael asks him about the 8th and the 22nd. The church cannot do those dates. There is a chance the church can work with them to make the wedding happen, but they will have to wait and see.

Erin & Chad are driving to the Nancy Vick Center. Erin previously had an early labor scare, but the hospital managed to stop the contractions. Now, Dr. Vick decided they should come in for weekly checkups. Erin says she goes in with fear. Erin has an ultrasound, and Chad beams to see Carson. Erin thinks she sees hair. They hear the heartbeat and Erin says she can’t wait to meet him. Erin says there is a lot of fear and she just wants to be sure everything is okay. Dr. Vick comes in to talk to her, and she says she has a lot of contractions. Dr. Vick says every week they can go, and she needs to keep him informed but everything is going as they hoped. Chad says it is getting more real that Carson could be here anytime.

Michael calls Brandon to talk about the churches, and both agree that they hope it works out with the last church. That is their favorite. Michael really hopes they can make it work.

 *Episode 8: Life Lessons

Gil says that he heard about the benefits of homeschooling at age 18, and when he had children, they looked into it and decided to do it. Kelly sets up the students for the day; she says it’s like a three-ring circus and she has kids ranging from kindergarten to seniors in high school. Kelly says she went to college and majored in human services and minored in special education. Kelly likes how customizable the curriculum is to each student. Tori says, “she done so good with all this,” and Carlin teases that that is proof right there. Tori likes to help teach the younger kids, which inspired her to go to college for education.

Cameras follow Tori to Crown College and show her in class. She says it’s almost finals time, so there is a lot of studying to do. Kelly says college is important to them, but they hope their kids always keep learning. Tori said she was worried going from homeschooling to college, but she's loved it and learned a lot.  Tori has lunch with her friends, and says she loves the social aspect of college.

Nathan is packing to head to Mississippi to get his pilot’s license. Nathan is learning how to use aviation for mission work and will be away for a month getting his private license. He thinks this will be helpful for his work in the Philippines. His family does not have a lot of faith in his abilities as a pilot. Kelly says Nathan has dyslexia and had trouble learning to read as a child, but he worked through it. Kelly says that it is sad to see him go, but it is their goal as parents to send them into the world.

Gil, Jud, and Jeb are doing a project on the porch—they are building swings to add to the poles they built previously. Michael says their parents encourage everyone to pursue whatever their interests are. Zach says Papa Bill encouraged Gil to pursue a trade, and he didn’t and went to college and then to work. When the company he worked for sold, he lost his job and learned a trade at age 30. Zach says Gil’s encouraged them to learn a trade so that they don’t have to go through that.  Gil finishes the swings and shows the younger kids how to hang them up carefully. Kelly says she wants the home to be a place for them to learn skills that will help them accomplish anything and go far in life.

Nathan is in Mississippi with his flight instructor. The instructor talks him through the beginning steps of getting ready for a flight, and eventually they get in and start the engine. Nathan guides the plane to the runway and the instructor has him practice different landings. They take off. Nathan says he wants to be in ministry and mission work; being able to fly is a big asset for his work in the Philippines.  Nathan says he’s getting good at taking off and flying, but he still struggles to land. Luckily, the runways at his airport are long and wide. They finish the training flight, and the instructor says he has to work on staying centered. If he does that, he’ll be doing good.

Tori gets home from school and tells Gil they posted her grades online. The family sits down to look at them, and Gil says she puts her whole heart into everything she does. Kelly says what counts is doing your best. Tori made all As and smiles. Tori says she had good teachers, and Gil jokes she has her mama’s brains. Gil calls Mama Jane to share Tori’s grades, and Mama Jane is so proud of her hard work at school. Gil repeats the joke about having her mama’s brains, and Mama Jane jokes Tori definitely didn’t get her grandmother’s brains. Mama Jane is sending her a gift card to go shopping as a treat. Tori is excited to get clothes for next semester.

Nathan is flying home, and the family is going to meet him. They’re worried because the weather isn’t great but excited to see Nathan. Nathan says it was really cool to fly from Mississippi to Rocky Top. Nathan has to make his landing good, and Kelly panics the whole time he is landing, but he lands successfully and pulls around to his waiting family. They are excited to see him, and the middle and little boys are excited to see the plane. Nathan’s parents are impressed with him, and think the experience was a real positive thing for him.

*Episode 9: The Wedding To Do List

Michael calls Brandon the day before this arrival in Tennessee. They talk about wedding planning, and Michael says they got the church they wanted to get married in. Michael is excited to get her dream church. Michael says they have to be gone by early evening, and they cannot set up the reception until 8am. This will be a challenge. Michael says when he comes, they need to look at tuxes and rings, and they are both excited to see each other tomorrow.

Lawson is getting his wisdom teeth out, after waiting longer than he was supposed to. Zach, Michael, Erin, and Tori have had theirs out. Lawson is the fifth. Dr. Anderson was been willing to work things out with the Bates family with payment plans and tree work. The lower teeth are impacted. Lawson is worried about what he will say after the surgery, and Gil is teasing him about filming it. In the talking heads, the family talks about Lawson’s low pain tolerance and his fear after his teeth were pulled before he got braces. Kelly & Gil are worried he’ll repeat that behavior after his wisdom teeth removal.

At the Bates home, Kim, the wedding coordinator arrives, to meet with Brandon & Michael. They say they want a southern, rustic feel and they expect 500-800 guests. Michael talks about flowers, colors, and more. Brandon is surprised with the amount of details that go into it. Gil comes over to talk about Michael, and Kelly says Michael is the simplest bride so far. Nathan jokes that when he walks a daughter down the aisle, it’s not clear if Gil is crying over the moment or crying because he’s seeing everything he bought.

Lawson and Gil arrive at the oral surgeon for the wisdom teeth surgery. Kelly says she doesn’t do well with blood, so she tends to stay away from some procedures. Lawson heads back for the removal, and all his family talk about his low pain tolerance. Lawson is nervous, and the procedure begins.

Michael & Brandon go shopping for wedding bands. Brandon didn’t think about the wedding band when he designed the ring, and there are lots to try on. Carlin and Tori are there to help. Carlin and Tori like the white gold band on Brandon, but he isn’t sure. Michael & Brandon say that Carlin and Tori always give you their honest opinion.

After the surgery, Lawson wakes up slowly, and they move him to recovery. They get him into the wheelchair and into the car, and he is sleepy in the car. Lawson took a selfie in the car to see how the bandages look. He doesn’t know why he did that in hindsight. Trace and Gil help him into the house, and Lawson says he has been nauseous in the car. They get him settled, and Kelly is worried about the blood and her children in pain. Trace explains the procedure to Jeb in the classic sibling teasing way. Lawson said his recovery was particularly bad due to how impacted his teeth were.

Michael & Brandon head to go pick out a tux. Since they were engaged at the cherry blossom time in DC, they are going with browns and pinks for wedding colors. The shop shows him different tux options and Tori and Carlin share their opinions about what would look best. In a talking head, Josie says she is glad Michael picked pink instead of her other choice, green, because Josie wants green. Katie says by the time it gets to the rest of the girls’ weddings, all of the good colors will be gone. Brandon tries some combinations on, and Zach, in a talking head, is a little concerned about the brown tuxes. They decide to measure him and then try stuff on. Tori and Carlin say that doing wedding stuff takes forever and they are glad there is a pool table at the tux place while they wait for Brandon. Brandon comes out in the tux, and they all love the look. Michael loves it on him, and she wants to get married now. Now that the stuff is getting checked off the list, they are getting closer to the wedding and Michael feels accomplished.

*Episode 10: Erin’s Little Miracle

Carson is going to arrive any day, and Erin & Chad can’t believe they are here. They are decorating their nursery. Erin suffered miscarriages, and Dr. Vick determined this was because of a clotting disorder. Kelly says it is easier to go through a miscarriage yourself then to watch your child go through it. The family talks about how hard it was to watch Erin go through that and how excited they are for Carson’s birth. Premature labor is a possibility with this disorder, so Erin wants to be ready to go just in case. Chad did the furniture for the nursery, and everyone loves it. Erin says they are ready in terms of being packed, but she isn’t ready for the pain.

Michael & Brandon are continuing their wedding preparations. Kay, Kelly’s sister, is there for the cake tasting. Kay has done all the Bates weddings so far, and they are excited to pick a flavor. Having Brandon in town makes it easier. Aunt Kay opens all her flavors and they start tasting. The siblings are excited to see what Michael & Brandon pick for cake. Michael says they'll do a small fancy cake and the rest in sheet cakes. Brandon suggests a white cake with cherry blossoms. Kay says that is what they had imagined. Kelly says Brandon is creative and sentimental so she isn’t surprised the cake will be like that. Michael is excited it will match their theme.

Chad is taking Erin on a surprise night away somewhere she hasn’t been before. She is excited to see where they are going, and Chad promises it is close to Dr. Vick’s, just in case. He wants to spoil her after she’s been through so much. They head to the Oliver Hotel in downtown Knoxville, right by Market Square. Erin is impressed with how cute the hotel is. In the room, there are rose petals and a gift basket for Erin. Erin loves gift baskets, and he shows her the huge tub and lovely view, which is exactly what Erin likes. Erin asks what’s next, and Chad only says it’s something she’ll like. They walk to a little salon and Chad had her get her nails done since he knows she loves getting them done. Erin loves getting a pedicure and manicure. The manicurist asks about growing up with 19 siblings, and Erin says it felt normal but now she realizes how loud it was. They finish at the salon and Chad thanks them for making Erin’s day so special and the nail tech says he’s the one that did that.

Back at the house, Michael calls Tori and her mom over to look at bridesmaids’ dresses. Michael found a website called Dainty Jewels, a modest dress website. Michael says Erin, Alyssa, Tori, Brandon’s sisters, one close friend are bridesmaids and Kelly is her maid of honor. The little girls like their flower girl dress. Michael says finding a modest dress everyone loves is a big challenge. Michael shows the dresses she likes, and Tori is worried it won’t be flattering on her. Michael likes them though and will order them for the bridesmaids.

On their mini getaway, Erin & Chad go into a vintage home store. This is one of Erin’s favorite things to do. She shows Chad a chair she thinks he could do himself. Chad is surprised at the prices. Chad says he works 8 hours at the metal recycling company, but he loves projects in his spare times. Chad says he has thought about starting a business but thinks that will wait for the future. Chad & Erin then go out to eat, and Chad tells Erin how proud he is of her and how excited he is for little Carson on the way. Chad gives her a card, and he has written her a long note. Erin is overwhelmed by how sweet Chad is. Erin says she is the luckiest girl in the world. They have dinner together and enjoy the food and then head back to their hotel.

Kelly sends off some of her daughters to go shopping for Carson since Erin doesn’t have a lot of clothes for Carson at this point. Kelly tells them to get sleepers in preemie to 0-3 months, socks, shoes, and hats. Whitney says babies require a lot more than you think. Tori, Carlin, Josie, Katie, Judson, and Jeb arrive at a thrift store. The little guys do not often do well in stores, and the older girls say they’ve been spoiled. The girls pick out a bunch of clothes for the baby, and Carlin jokes that Erin will be happy but her dad won’t. They head over to Erin’s to drop them off and visit. Erin is surprised by all the clothes. Erin & Chad look at the clothes and they love them. Erin says she can’t imagine him out of her, and the sisters agree. Erin is so excited to have the clothes and she says they have plenty of clothes now. Erin says she isn’t feeling good, and she’s been having contractions and is ready for the baby to come. They all go outside to look at a bird’s nest in their hanging plants. Erin says it is perfect, but she was hoping to beat the mama bird in terms of who’s baby comes first; but the mama bird’s babies arrived first.

Erin has had false labor, but suddenly things get more intense. Carlin is over at their house since she wanted to be there for the baby. Chad calls Kelly, and Kelly tells Chad to call Dr. Vick. Erin thinks she has lost her mucus plug and contractions are about 5 minutes apart. Chad calls Dr. Vick and tells him what is going on. Dr. Vick tells them to come in, and Chad gets ready. Both parents-to-be are nervous. Erin thinks her water broke, and then contractions come fast and furious. They leave the house as fast as they can and head to the hospital. At the hospital, it seems like the real thing, so Erin is laboring with Chad’s support. Erin starts asking for an epidural. It is taking a while, and Erin is only 1.5 centimeters so she should have time. Erin gets into a room and starts asking to push and demanding an epidural. Kelly and Chad are coaching her through. Erin is asking for help, and Gil outside is wishing he could help. He is praying, and Erin says he isn’t praying enough. Chad says he feels helpless. Erin keeps asking to push, and they keep telling her to wait. They check Erin and she is in transition, and Erin realizes she didn’t have an epidural. The labor is progressing quickly, and Carson arrives and is put into Erin’s arms. She looks up at Chad crying, and she says she can’t believe she was here. Carson is okay and is wrapped up warm and put back into Erin’s arms. Chad holds Carson and says he can’t put the feeling into words. Everyone is so proud of Erin, and Erin say she thought she was gonna die and doesn’t know how her mom did it 19 times. Kelly says her whole labor was about an hour and a half to 2 hours—it was fast. Dr. Vick says she had a placental abruption and that caused a huge release of hormones, which leads to tetanic contractions. Luckily everything went alright, and Carson was born quickly.

Carlin admires Carson and says she can’t imagine how Erin & Chad are feeling at this moment. Tori gets chills hearing her talk about it. The siblings arrive to meet Carson, and they are so in love with Carson. They compliment Erin, but Erin says she doesn’t care what she looks like. They all explain how tiny Carson is and how perfect he is. Everyone is relieved everything went well for both mom and baby. Jackson, Warden, and Isaiah joke that they are “trunckles” or triple uncles—an uncle three times over—and that they hope to be a “quadruncle” soon. Gil says seeing Carson and his kids meeting him just fills his eyes with tears. The siblings take lots of pictures with Carson. Michael is overwhelmed holding Carson and the miracle that everyone was okay. Gil says this is better than a fairytale—it’s really happening—and everyone is so excited. The Bates family leaves to give the little Paine family time to rest. Erin says it was a scary process, but it was worth everything. Chad says it seems like a blur going from that first heartbeat to here, and they didn’t know how long it would last. Erin says she is so grateful Carson is here, and she can’t wait to see him grow up.

*Episode 11: Boating with the Bates

Erin & Chad are home with baby Carson and Tammy Paine, Chad’s mom. She is there helping out with the transition and spending time with her grandson. Chad was changing Carson’s diaper, and then passed the baby to Tammy. Erin is grateful for the help. Carson was a month early, and premature, but he did not have to go to the NICU. Chad, Erin, and Carson are all glad everyone is doing so well. They are excited he is here, and Erin says she knows he will grow up so fast. Chad tells her to cherish every day.

Tori and Josie return home from a shopping trip. Mama Jane sent Tori a gift card as a reward for Tori’s straight As. Tori is excited about all the stuff and shows it to her family, and they request a fashion show. Tori says she isn’t a big shopper, which is why she brought Josie to help. Everyone likes the tops she got, and Carlin jokes about which ones she wants. Tori is excited with all the back to school clothes, and Kelly says she can’t believe it is time for her to get ready to go back to school.

The family has a family meeting to discuss what is going on this week. Nathan says he is going to Mississippi on Tuesday, and says he is going to the lake on Monday before he leaves. The entire family wants to join him. Kelly says they should make a family thing out of it. Kelly tells everyone to pack one dry outfit. Nathan, Trace, Lawson, and Gil pack the gear, and the older girls help pack for the little ones. The family has a lot of stuff to get ready for the lake. This is the perfect time for a last hurrah of summer. The family gets to work getting everything together, and then they head to church as it is Sunday. They’ll head to the lake the next day.

As they prepare to leave, Michael’s bridesmaids dresses arrive, and Kelly gets distracted. Callie tries on her flower girl dress. The little girls were very excited by the dress. Gil gets the family back on the move. However, they realize they lost the plug for the boat, which they need in order for the boat to not sink. They end up having to buy one on the way, and they’re finally off to the lake.

Kelly grew up on a lake and loves it, and Gil says he proposed to her by a lake. The whole family loves it. They start jumping off the top dock and having fun on the lake. Whitney mentions the swim skirts thing. Lawson does a jump with swimmer’s earplugs in and ends up hurting his head. The family jet skis, waterskies, tubes, and swims and generally has fun on the lake.  Chad and Jackson fish together. Suddenly, there is thunder, and everyone comes out of the lake. It begins to rain, and the family is waiting it out. They eat sandwiches during the rain. Lightning strikes nearby, and the family yells. Tori and Carlin are yelling in fear, and Tori chucks her sandwich into the lake. Zach & Whitney decide to head out, and the storm passes.

Gil goes to the boat and sees Tori’s sandwich laying there in the boat. After the storm, the Bates are back out there skiing and having fun again. Kelly says Gil was always adventurous, and his kids are very impressed by his skiing. Gil says he loves playing with his kids. Gil says he does notice he needs a lot longer to recover than his kids do. Kelly says the calm after the storm was worth waiting for, and they had a great day.

*Episode 12: The Quest for the Dress

The Bates family is in North Carolina for Kelly’s sister Beth’s bridal shower. While in town, they go to Kelly’s sister Kim’s floral shop to get Michael’s wedding dress. Michael reminds Kim about the cherry blossom theme. Kim says cherry blossoms won’t be in season for her wedding. Kim suggests they do silk instead, and Michael says she loves silk and then she can keep the silk flowers even after the wedding. Michael needs one bridal bouquet and then bouquets for 8 bridesmaids. Kelly arrives to see Kim, and she is excited to do flowers with Michael. They look at some options and get an idea about what the bouquet will look like. That settled, Kelly asks how they can help with Beth’s shower.

Michael says that with everything going on, it seems like there’s been a shower every month. The Bates family arrive and start setting up. The guests arrive, and then Beth arrives. Beth is Kelly’s sister that her mom adopted shortly after Kelly got married. Beth is around Erin’s age, and all the Bates siblings love her. Kelly’s mom says Beth is the hardest thing to give up. Beth is getting married July 18, about a month before Michael. Everyone enjoys food and then it is time for shower games. First up, making a toilet paper wedding dress. Ellie is the bride for one team, and Tori is worried she cannot move in her dress. Michael is the bride for another team, and she says it’s definitely not what she wants for her wedding. The game wraps up. Michael’s works, but as Ellie walks, it starts to fall apart. The last “bride,” another little girl, is about to walk in the dress, Beth picks her as the winner, and Gil (hopefully jokingly) collects the extra toilet paper.

Michael says Beth is more like a cousin than an aunt, and they talk wedding details. Beth says it is all coming together, and she signed her life away on the marriage license. Michael says she knows she needs to find a dress since they are getting closer and closer.

Back in Knoxville, Erin takes baby Carson for his newborn photos with Taryn Yager. She does a bunch of newborn photos, and Erin loves the pictures so far. The older boys joke in talking heads about how people take pictures of newborns naked. Chad is impressed with Taryn’s patience in the endeavor, and both are proud of how cute Carson is.

It is time for Michael to go wedding dress shopping at a local boutique. Michael says she wants a dress that is simple, has a train, and is modest and skinny-looking. The bridal consultant said that will be easy. All the sisters are shopping with Michael, and she is worried about all the opinions. They’ve pulled some options, and it is time to get trying them on!

Michael comes out in the first dress, which is in a ball gown. Michael and Tori both agree it’s too poufy, and the consultant jokes that Tori is who she is selling to. Michael is surprised by all of the emotions. They go try the next one. This one is a much slenderer fit, but it is not a winner. The third dress is also too fitted. After trying a few more that she doesn’t like, she comes out in one that they like but Michael says it isn’t the one. On her sixth dress, Michael is talking about giving up, but they start talking about altering the gown in a way that would make her happy. Michael is worried about the alterations. When it comes down to the budget, this dress is way too much. Michael says she wants to keep looking for something that better fits the budget.

*Episode 13: Addee & Ellie’s Pool Party

The family gathers in the living room for a family meeting to discuss Addee and Ellie’s belated pool birthday party. Kelly jokes that anyone behind on birthdays can just join in. The family has a lot of birthdays, so they have a lot of birthday parties. Josie mentions that Gil has promised her tennis lessons, and he says he’ll make good on that one too. Trace mentions Kelly promised to take him shopping. The meeting ends.

Josie and Gil go to play tennis, and they chat about school on the way there. Gil says they try to make one on one time a priority when they can. Gil starts to get her going and she has some trouble figuring it out. Gil says learning a new thing can be difficult and he is proud of her for making herself vulnerable by learning a new sport. But Josie starts to get more of the hang of the game, and they decide to play a little game to try it out.

Kelly and Trace go shopping because he is too tall for all the pants in their house. They look at a thrift store and start pulling some options. Kelly says the boys care about their clothes just as much as the girls do. Trace is almost done with high school, and he is thinking about what comes next. Trace says he isn’t big into the tree business, so he wants to look for a job. He likes mowing with Lawson but isn’t sure he wants to start his own business. Kelly says he could dual-enroll at Crown or go to college after school. Kelly says he should experiment with college since she thinks he would like college, but she’s happy with whatever choice he will make. They finish shopping and Trace says he appreciates getting to spend time with his mom.

Back at the tennis court, Gil serves Josie and she sends it back to him a few times, and then they let Josie serve. Josie gets it, and Gil returns it out. The second time he hits the net, and Josie asks if he is losing on purpose. Josie says times like these are the times you’ll remember when you grow up.

At the big house, they load up and head to the pool. It is Whitney’s mom’s pool, and she has invited the family to use it for the party. They head off to the pool. Some get the grill going and food set up, while the rest start playing in the pool. The family loves water, so they are all having a blast jumping in. While Zach, Whitney, and Kelly are setting up, they realize that Gil has bought cake mix and icing instead of premade cakes for the party. They run out to get cakes. After that, it is time for birthday praises. Overall, the family says Addee and Ellie are hard workers and very sweet. The girls blow out candles, and then the family enjoys cake and some more time in the pool. Addee and Ellie say this was the best party they ever had.

*Episode 14: Hello Dollywood!

Lawson got a call from Dollywood inviting Lawson and the Bates family to sing at their bluegrass festival. Everyone was thrilled and is excited for this vacation. Gil tries to round up the family. This is the first trip where everyone will go together: Alyssa, John, and Allie and Brandon have come in from out of town for the trip. They load up and argue about who gets to hold Bradley. Gil is filling up the trunks to prepare for the trip. Erin and her crew arrive: Chad, Carson, Mrs. Paine, and Abby Paine. Finally, everyone is packed into the cars. Kelly wants them to practice their songs while they are driving. The family has not practiced as much as they should, and they didn’t have a lot of notice for the performance. Lawson and Kelly are worried about the performance.

The family arrives at a giant cabin, and Nathan, Alyssa, John, and Allie are there. Everyone wants to hold Allie, and Alyssa gets to hold Carson. Finally, they head into the cabin and are amazed by it—it has an elevator and three huge dining tables. The family explores the cabin, and then Kelly organizes the kids to go over some rules for the cabin. Kelly is nervous about the four stories of porches on the cabin. Isaiah once fell off a deck as a toddler and broke his arm, so Kelly is very nervous. She tells the little ones they need permission to be on the deck and to operate the elevator. It doesn’t last—the elevator gets stuck at some point. But they talk about how much they loved it for the first six hours. The little kids are not great at listening to the rule, and they hang out on the porch. Kelly & Gil finally load the kids up for an evening at Dixie Stampede. Lawson is practicing and misses the call, and then they head off.

The Dixie Stampede is a live show that all the Bates kids are very excited to see. Lawson says it is second to Broadway, as far as live shows go. There are horses, protections, pyrotechnics, and lots of trick riding. The kids are nervous but excited watching the show. Zach & Whitney are excited watching baby Bradley watch the show. Erin says watching her little siblings see the show for the first time was really fun. There is a competition, and the Bates brothers and in laws are competing to fill up a barrel first. It’s a relay: one person fills a bucket, runs to the next, dumps into his bucket, and so on until the last guy (in this case, Bandon) dumps it into the barrel. The Bates team wins, and they get medals. The Bates family is excited for the boys. The Bates family gets to meet some of the trick riders afterwards and they enjoy getting to talk about the show. Trace says Nathan used to be the best Bates rider, but since he’s been flying so much Trace has gotten more practice now. One of the organizers mentions that they are auditioning. Trace gets excited and Shadow, one of the trick riders, offers to come by and teach him tricks. The Bates family takes a photo together with some trick riders to commemorate the night.

The next day, the family goes to Dollywood to go on rides. Kelly has assigned the little ones a buddy for the day at the park. Judson is tall enough to go on a kid roller coaster, and Carlin says they kinda talked them into it, and the little ones hold on to their buddies. Callie isn’t loving the coaster and she is letting her family know. She is yelling “let me out of here!” The ride finally ends and they get off. Callie does not want to go again.

The family goes to the taffy shop to watch the candy makers make taffy. The candy maker explains what she is making and offers them samples. While they watch, Jeb is sitting on his dad’s shoulders. He realizes that if he leans back, he can take candy from the large barrels of candy in the store. Kelly catches him, and both the parents laugh about how mischievous he is. The whole family agrees that this is the best taffy. The family heads back to the rides. There is one water ride where spectators can shoot people on the ride with water guns. Lawson and Carlin go all out, shooting people on the ride. As they do, Brandon dumps water from a bottle on Lawson’s back. He runs after him, and says it was a dirty move before his wedding.

The family then decides to take the Wild Eagle, and the family insists that Kelly goes along. Everyone insists she’ll be fine, But Kelly knows better. The family goes off, and Kelly is not happy with the coaster. As they go, Kelly starts yelling that “I’m gonna kill you!” the entire time. Gil says he thought she would pull his arm off. The family finishes, and Kelly says she is ready to give up roller coasters forever. The family looks at the commemorative photo of her on the ride, and everyone laughs. Next up is the ferris wheel, and the family talks about how much they enjoyed their rides. They do some kid rides with the little ones. Their day at the park wraps up, and it is time to head to the festival.

There’s a large crowd, and suddenly everyone realizes how unprepared they are. The family finds a spot to practice, but Zach says you can’t practice for a 30-minute set 30 minutes before your set. Caleb, a family friend and mandolin player, will accompany them as well as Lawson & Zach on guitar. They do some practice, and Lawson says it is supposed to be positive, nothing majorly bad sounding. Erin says it is nice to get the whole family together. Suddenly, there is weather passing through which may cancel the performance if there is lightning. Lawson is probably the only one hoping for it to clear up.

The rain clears, and it is time to go on stage. They get the stage set up, do some sound checks, and then begin the performance. Lawson is nervous. Gil introduces the family, and then they start singing. They sing some patriotic songs, Carlin yodels, and Lawson sings. Nathan says it was Lawson’s best performance yet. The performance ends, and the family is excited with how it went. Michael says she is excited she’ll be one of the married couples next time. Whitney says Bradley is turning 1 soon, and both Zach & Whitney are in denial about him growing up. Erin says Carson needs a brother. Chad says he doesn’t need someone to steal his blocks. Erin says they gotta sleep a little before they have another baby. Chad: “another baby?” Kelly says the trip was a blast, everyone was there, and she hopes they can do something like it every year.
