*Episode 1: A First Time for Everything!

The season opens by looking back at Carlin & Evan's perfect fairytale wedding. Everyone is thrilled with how well the wedding went, and Evan & Carlin drive away to their honeymoon.

Evan & Carlin are starting their honeymoon in Charleston before going to Punta Cana. They stay in a cute rental house.  This is a new chapter about to unfold, and they are experiencing so many firsts together as a married couple.  Their first activity is a carriage ride, which Erin says is romantic, but the little boys think is just fun. On the carriage ride, they enjoy sightseeing. Carlin & Evan are enjoying getting to spend their time together and talk about how special it is to marry your best friend.

Back in Tennessee, the Bates family is getting ready to meet the Kahle family. Everyone agrees that this is a big step Trace & Chaney. The Kahles arrive and Trace greets them first, followed by the rest of the family. Katie says, "Praise the Lord, finally a Bates boy has got a girl." Lawson is mildly offended. Kelly says the Kahle family has a lot in common with her family. Chaney loves sports, so they decide to play bocce since Trace & Chaney are both competitive. Callie says Trace is extra sweet around Chaney. Zach wins the game and says he feels bad beating Trace in front of Chaney but he's already married so it doesn't really bother him. After the families hang out, Kelly says she feels even better about this relationship than before.

Evan & Carlin go to eat on a roof, and it is a special moment. In the talking heads, all the married couples reflect on the happy, carefree, finally alone times on their honeymoons. They order mocktails on the roof and talk about how fun this trip is.  Evan says they should go crabbing tomorrow, and Carlin bets him she'll catch more than he does. They are enjoying being on their own schedule.

The next day, Carlin & Evan head out crabbing with Tia & Art, two hosts. Carlin's family does not think this will go well. Tia shows them the ropes of crabbing, and has Evan hold a small crab. Finally, it is time to crab, and the competition heats up immediately. Art and Evan take on Tia and Carlin. Evan gets one, and then Carlin gets one but drops it out of her basket as she pulls it up. Carlin gets her next one, and it is a big one. They tell Carlin she has to hold the one she caught, and she briefly holds it and then drops it.  They finish crabbing and take a picture with the crabs.

Back in Tennessee, Whitney, Zach, and their kids are going to an ultrasound to see baby Khloé. Whitney says she moves around a lot. They are nervous but excited to see her on the screen. They listen to her heart, and the family is looking forward to meet her. Bradley gets the pictures of baby Khloé. Whitney says she has been emotional through this pregnancy and has been trying to soak it in.

Back in Charleston, Evan & Carlin take a sailboat ride. Carlin gets to control the boat for a little while, and then they head to the bow. Carlin wants to have a Titanic Moment on the bow, so they take a picture and then sit on the front of the boat and reflect on their trip. Both agree it was an incredible time.

In Tennessee, Josie is very close to her due date and looking forward to meeting the baby. Josie is trying to pack for the hospital. Josie & Kelton have decided to try a natural, medicine free labor after Kelton lost his mother due to complications from childbirth. Kelly tells Josie there is no pressure either way, everyone has their reasons for the kind of birth they have, and she shouldn’t feel bad or pressured to do anything—just be you. Josie says she is blessed to have her mom since she has been through birth so many times. Josie says the house is clean, everything is washed, and it is just a waiting game.

The sisters go out for lunch as a last hurrah before Josie delivers. Josie says she can only have two people in the room during labor: her mom and Kelton and then a doula as well. Josie had to explain what a doula was to her mom. Erin says she thinks a doula does what the husband does, and says Chad is a good looking one. Josie says she is worried Willow will be two weeks late. Erin says the first is the scariest since you don't know or have a comparison yet. Josie says spending this time together was so good.

That evening, Josie & Kelton are hanging out and waiting for their doula meeting. Both want a little professional coaching and advice for their first pregnancy. Kelton says he is worried about not knowing what her reactions will be like and not being sure how to support her. Josie says Kelton didn't realize it was an all-day affair. The doula talks them through the stages of labor, and Josie says it is a lot to take in. The Doula shows them some pain management techniques to use during the labor. Kelton says he is a little terrified but ready. The doula tells Josie to call her when she feels any contractions. Kelton & Josie talk about how they wanted the delivery to be more private and then invite the family after Baby Willow arrived.

Eventually, Josie went into labor. Josie wasn't progressing, and Kelton got emotional as it went on. Josie passed out at one point and woke up and saw Kelton bawling. Kelton says he wants to take on that pain but he could not. After 36 hours of contractions, the doctors felt like she needed help progressing. Josie & Kelton asked to pray about it alone, and then decided to go with an epidural. Kelton is worried because he knows the epidural contributed to doctors missing signs with his mom, but with Josie it worked well, and she gave birth to Willow after 48 hours. Josie says after pregnancy and a long, traumatic birth, seeing Willow's perfect face made it all worth it. Michael says she feels for how long and hard Josie's labor was, but she was so proud of her. Josie says she doesn't know what life will be like now, but they are so excited about this journey.

Back at home, Josie & Kelton are waiting for her family to come over. Josie says she is still recovering and doesn't feel normal yet, but she is excited to have their baby girl here. Josie says you can't actually be prepared for having a baby. The family trickles in to see the baby, and everyone wants to hold Willow. They start passing the baby around. When Zach holds, Whitney & Zach really excited for their new baby. Jud says he loves to hold little babies. Bradley and Kaci hold her together. Josie & Kelton are closing on a house next Wednesday and ask their family to help get their new house ready. Josie says their second year of marriage will be their resting year; Gil says Willow will have something to say about that. So many exciting things are going on, but it is so much fun to see all the family so happy.

* Episode 2: A Busy Business and a Baby Bombshell

Erin & Chad go to Dr. Vick's to have an ultrasound. Both Erin & Chad are excited to see what she will be like since all three of their kids have been so different. Erin think she looks like a Holland Grace. Erin says so far it's worked out that she picks the first name and he picks the middle name, which she says is fair since she carries the baby and gets first dibs. Holland is one pound and looking good. Chad says there is still fear with pregnancy but seeing that the baby is  okay is great peace of mind. Dr. Vick comes in to talk to them and says all looks good. Erin says the baby moves a little less than her previous pregnancies, and Dr. Vick says that is due to where her placenta is. Erin is reassured and they thank Dr. Vick. Erin says things are crazy with both their businesses and baby #4. Chad says the workload increases but the reward as you get to watch them grow is so sweet.

Michael arrives at Crown Cosmetology School to have her hair done by Katie. Michael is starting nursing school, which means she wears her hair up every day and wanted to add some highlights. Katie is in her last semester and she is ready to take her state board exam and find a salon to work in. Katie says everything is coming so fast. Katie says she wanted to do nursing school but has been surprised by her love for cosmetology and wants to try this first for a little while.  Michael says her school program is 11 months long, but she hopes to go on for her RN after if she can. Michael says she doesn't think she and Brandon would move back to Chicago, but they might not stay in Tennessee. Michael says they are open right now, and she hopes to find her particular field through clinical work. Katie says that the Keilens can't move away because by the time they come back she'll be married with two kids already. Michael asks if there is a specific someone she has in mind, and Katie beams. Michael asks if she can hear about him, and Katie says they're both young, and Katie wants all her adult maturity. Still, she's been talking to this guy for two months and she wants to be serious. They met through a mutual friend, and Katie doesn't want to rush into anything while she is finishing school. Katie tells Michael he sent her a pizza and often buys her ice cream. Michael says that's good that he knows her. Katie moves Michael over to rinse out her hair and asks if she is nervous about starting school. As she does this, she gets some toner in Michael's eye and says she is easily distracted. Her teacher comes over and offers a towel for Michael to wipe her eye. Michael says she trusts Katie, and she is so grateful to her patients who let her learn IVs and stuff on them and knows that once you make a mistake like that you don't do it again. Katie finishes the look, and Michael loves it. Brandon says Michael always looks great, but Katie did a great job.

At Whitney's house, Erin, Whitney, and Michael are dealing with an influx of new inventory. Their online clothing store has been crazy for them, but they are having fun doing it. It has turned out bigger than anyone expected, and they need to deal with a lot of inventory and have more coming in today. Whitney's house is full to the brim of dresses, and so they have been building a warehouse on Zach & Whitney's property.  Zach jokes that this business should be Bates & Co. and not just Bates sisters since they have so much of the family involved. Brandon arrives to help pack orders, Bobby helps with finances, Chad is working on the building, and Zach makes a lot of calls on their behalf. Whitney says it is fun to have all this family time together. Zach says he's a businessman now, and then jokingly corrects himself: he's an employee who works for his wife.

The Bates family is gathering at their favorite park for a BBQ. Zach and Gil playfully compete over grilling techniques. Kelly says Zach has experience cooking and grilling, and the family is not such a fan of Gil's BBQ.  Lawson jokes that he has a new girlfriend in the car to get, and then runs back joking that "She left me!" Zach says the relationships are nonstop and everyone is gonna end up married—everyone, that is, except for Lawson and Nathan. Evan says he brought a piñata for the August birthdays since he is an August birthday. However, he forgot a rope and a stick. So, they take turns kicking the box, and when they finally burst open the piñata, a small baby comes out. They realize the piñata is full of small babies, and everyone starts celebrating. Carlin is pregnant! Carlin says she is still a little shocked. Josie has just given birth, Whitney and Erin are expecting, and now Carlin is expecting all at once. Kelly says this is going to be a fun memory for everyone.  Evan says they found out the day before Father's Day, but she didn't get him anything. Carlin says she got him THIS creation inside her.

* Episode 3: First Home and Strict Chaperones

Tori is at her place, doing school with her nieces and nephews. Kade loves to watch the big kids and follow them around. Tori says she wants to see him with some little siblings. Tori does school a little bit here and there and break it up with play time. Tori does shrinky dinks with the kids. The producers ask Bradley and Carson who is the most badly behaved; the boys name all their cousins but agree that it's Brookie who behaves the worst. The shrinky dinks come out of the oven, and the kids are excited to see how they've shrunk. Tori says she likes having this time with the kids, but she also is glad they go home at the end of the day since she is tired.

Kelton and his dad are at the new house, and Josie comes up. They closed on the house about 10 days after Willow's birth. It's a great location with potential, but they're still working to fix it up. They are going to freshen it up and open it up. Lawson arrives to help, and then Chad arrives too. Kelton says there is a lot of trade talent in both families that are pitching in to help. Chad and Kelton are putting in a beam. Willow cries and Josie goes to help her. Kelton's brother arrives now to help as well, and Warden has come along with him. The guys work together to install the beam, and when it's in place, they get it secured and Kelton is relieved with how well it went. Kelton says the project seems to keep getting bigger, but they are excited to keep working and get it done.

Evan is coming to help with the electrical at the Balka home. Josie and Carlin paint together and talk about how they are going through the same things. Josie says Willow sleeps differently each night, and she tries to get up so Kelton can work. Josie says to see your husband love your child is the sweetest, most special thing that ever happened. Kelton is excited to get to a point where the house is livable, so they can move in and keep renovating. Josie says she won't know how long it will be before the house is done, and they're contemplating knocking down another wall, so they'll see.

Next, it is time for a photoshoot for the Bates Sister Boutique (BSB), and Chaney has come along to model since she is tall and can show what the dresses look like on a tall person. Erin gets her in a dress and coaches her through a few poses. Whitney says walking into a family with many girls is intimidating, and Chaney fits in great. Chaney says she thought she was coming to see Trace, but the sisters needed her help. Carlin says Chaney is perfect. They FaceTime Trace and all the sisters joke about her moving to Tennessee and becoming a Bates. They tease him about the pet names he calls her. Overall, Chaney says the Bates sisters have been very welcoming.

Trace & Chaney go bowling, and Jeb and Jud go as the chaperones. The little guys are full of energy, and they are excited to chaperone. Jeb and Judson enjoy the bowling—they struggle a bit with the large balls but otherwise have fun. They’re hard on themselves, but Trace & Chaney cheer them on. Chaney is up, and she bowls a perfect strike on the first try; then she gets a spare, another strike, and then another. All the Bates boys are in awe. Judson asks Chaney why she likes Trace, and she says he was nice to her when they were skiing, always helping her up when she fell and always opening her car door since then. Trace comes over, and Chaney jokes that they were telling her they liked Chaney first. When Trace goes to bowl, Jeb tells her that she isn’t allowed to sit beside Trace. Trace jokingly moves him away, and Jeb pushes himself in between them. They both are surprised at how strict he is, and Chaney says Trace’s parents would be proud. Gil and Kelly laugh about it. Jeb then bowls a spare and is delighted. Trace says he feels like he is starting to fall, and says they are on the same page and want to pursue something one day. Trace says Chaney is amazing; Chaney says she was just trying to impress him, and Trace says she already has.

* Episode 4: Happy News and Health Concerns

Carlin is about 9 weeks pregnant as she and Evan arrive for their first ultrasound at Dr. Vick's. Carlin says this appointment is going to make this pregnancy feel more real, especially since she can't believe she is pregnant. Carlin is a little confused by the ultrasound, but she begins to make it out and they hear the heartbeat. Both the expectant parents are thrilled to see the ultrasound. Lawson says they are ready to be parents: Evan has the cool dad personality and Carlin has always been great with children. After the ultrasound, the couple goes to an exam room to talk to Dr. Vick. He comes in and says the heartbeat is great, but they have tested Carlin for Erin's clotting disorder. Carlin has the disorder as well, and Carlin will have to do two shots a day. Dr. Vick says they will have to teach Evan to give her shots. Carlin laughs, which Evan says is typical for her receiving bad news. Evan is scared but says he can help. Carlin says she is nervous but knows Dr. Vick has been through it with Erin so he knows what he is dealing with.

The Bates Sisters Boutique (BSB) warehouse behind Whitney's house is completed. Chad has built two tables for them to work at, and the inventory is all along the side walls. They look at the website and discuss some boutique matters. Carlin tells them she got her results from Dr. Vick and she has the same disorder Erin had. Erin says it has been bonding for them to go through this together. Whitney doesn't understand the disorder, and both Erin and Carlin explain it to her. Whitney says she will be there for both of them. Kelly says the news is hard but finding it out early on is the best case for both Carlin and baby. Carlin is glad she has such a good support system.

Bobby says that when they decided to move back to Knoxville, Kelton offered him a job at his plumbing company which he was trying to grow. Both guys are excited to work together. Bobby says they enjoy being back in Knoxville; being gone made them appreciate being around family even more. Bobby has been an apprentice plumber and working in the office. Gil says learning a new skill is good, and Bobby is in the perfect place and time to do it. Kelton and Bobby are working on a whole house re-pipe for a renovation. Bobby is looking forward to being handier.

Gil & Kelly are going to the clinic today since Gil has been having pain in his shoulder. He had an MRI and is meeting with the doctor to discuss the results. Kelly explains that Gil was preaching to a youth group, and when he does this, he often challenges the group that he will do two one handed push-ups for every one pushup the best person can do. Well, the young man at this youth group did 75. Gil made it into the 80s, and something snapped in his shoulder. Now they are meeting with Dr. Matthew Rappe to discuss his next steps. It turns out there is a significant tear in Gil’s shoulder. The doctor says Gil can get better without surgery, but it wouldn't be fixed. Dr. Rappe says this is a simple surgery, but the recovery is 4 and a half months. Gil says he was hoping to just do rehab, and the doctor says he would lose a lot of strength and ability to use his shoulder over time if he didn’t do the surgery. Gil & Kelly agree to the surgery, although they are worried about all it entails.

Tori and Josie are going for a walk, and they are both excited to get to spend time together. Tori says it is weird to see her younger sister with a little baby, but it is also fun. They talk about their kids, the different stages they are in, and how they are doing. Tori says seeing little Willow has made her really miss having a little baby. Tori just decides to tell Josie she is pregnant again. Tori says she can't keep a secret and that she is 6 weeks pregnant. Tori says she is not nervous, and just pumped about having another little baby. Josie says she was shocked and excited. Josie and Tori talk about how fun it will be to have all these kids close in age. Tori is worried that since Kade is so laid back, the new baby may be a wild child. Tori says she needs to figure out a creative way to tell her family or she'll just blurt it out when she sees them next.

* Episode 5: Texas or Bust?

Trace arrives at Zach & Whitney's to work on the Bates Sister Boutique (BSB) warehouse. Zach invites him inside first because they want to hear about his upcoming Texas trip. Trace and his parents are about to head to Texas where he will ask Chaney to be his girlfriend. Trace says they've only missed talking one day out of the past 9 months. Zach asks what he thinks she'll say, and Trace says he hopes he says yes. Trace is asking Zach for advice since Zach is the only married brother. Whitney says Zach took her to a bridge, gave her a necklace, and put it on her and asked if they could start courting. They hugged. Trace says he has a bracelet. Whitney says keep it sentimental and simple. Zach says he doesn't remember what he says. Whitney says Zach was so nervous, which was so sweet. Trace says he hopes this will go well. Trace says this talk calmed his nerves for now, but they'll be back.

In Colleyville, Texas, Gil, Kelly, and Trace arrive at the Kahle family home and he is nervous. The Kahle family comes to greet them. Kelly says this family is so fun to hang out with. Gil says they also homeschool and have a large family, so they have a lot in common. The Kahle family invites them to go Go Karting with them but warns them that this place has faster than average Go Karts. Kelly says she will do it if she is in control of her own car. They head to the Go Kart place, and Trace & Chaney are trading competitive banter already. They get set up in their Go Karts, and everyone is excited to start. These electric Go Karts go up to 50 miles per hour, Gil says. Everyone has big helmets and is carefully strapped in. Once they are on the course, everyone begins speeding around the course. Kelly goes sedately around the course while everyone else flies past her. When the race comes to an end, Trace notices the scoreboard. Chaney ended up coming in first by just a fraction of a second, and Trace was a close second. They have a mini award ceremony, and Chaney is delighted to have beaten both her brothers and Trace.

Next, the Kahles take the Bates out for TexMex. Trace is surprised by how hot the salsa was. Kelly says it is the hottest salsa she's tried. Trace says he thinks he could move to Texas, but Zach doesn't like that.  Tomorrow, Chaney and the guys are going to the batting cages while Kelly, her mom, and her sisters are setting up the picnic where Trace will courtpose.

The next day, Chaney, her dad, and the Kahle brothers take Trace and Gil to the batting cages. Trace is getting nervous for later, but also wants to impress the Kahle family at their favorite sport. Trace starts off batting and ended up looking great. Chaney is next, and also has several good hits. Trace goes again. They then switch from Mr. Kahle pitching to the machine. Trace misses one, but then gets the hang out it. When Chaney goes in the cage, Trace pulls Mr. Kahle aside to talk to him.  Trace asks if it would be okay for them to start dating. Mr. Kahle gives his permission but reminds Trace that he didn't raise his kids to move off, he raised them to stay close.  Trace says he is a Godly man with a Godly family who wants them to be where they can serve the Lord the most.  Chaney asks what they are talking about, and Trace tries to play it off and fails. It is time for the next step, and Trace is nervous.

Kelly and the Kahle women decorate together.  The setting is a lovely picnic table near a lake. Trace wanted it pretty but simple so it doesn't look like an engagement. They get set up and the food arrives. Everything looks good and ready to go. Trace & Chaney arrive and they love it. Chaney is surprised and blown away (but has changed into a nice dress).  Everyone eats together and Gil notices how nervous Trace is. Trace asks Chaney to go for a walk, and the sunset is really lovely. Trace takes her to a spot with flowers and a gift ready for them. Trace said he had them set this up, and the parents watch as they sit by the lake and Trace talks about how adventurous and competitive and skilled she is. Trace says she is his best friend, and he loves her and wants to take the next step and he asks if she will start a relationship with him. She says she would love to, and they hug. He gives her a bracelet. She is touched. She says she loves him, too. The parents come over to celebrate with them. Trace says they can officially hold hands, and Chaney says she's been waiting 9 months for this. Everyone is excited for the couple and looking forward to what the future holds.

*Episode 6: Surgery and Surprises

Josie & Kelton are going out for their first anniversary, just the two of them, while the Keilens watch Willow. Kelton has brought Josie to a nice seafood place. She hasn't really tried seafood before and wanted a nice place to do it.  Erin says they didn't grow up with seafood, so trying it has been a challenge for some of them. Kelton & Josie then talk about all they've gone through in one year: moving into an apartment, then a house, pregnancy, delivery, and a newborn. They are both thankful for Willow and being together.

At the Keilens, Michael & Brandon snuggle with Willow on the couch.  Kelly says Michael's love for babies really stands out. She would always grab and care for babies. Michael says being around kids makes her feel like she is in her element. Brandon says he doesn't know a lot about babies and he is nervous to hold Willow. He does get to hold her for a bit, and both of them enjoyed the chance to get to spend time with Willow.

Back at the restaurant, Kelton asks if Josie wants life to calm down, or if she wants things to keep going. She says she wants life to calm down. The waiter brings out shrimp and scallops for them to try, and Josie does try both. Josie doesn't love the texture of scallops. Josie then tries shrimp, which she likes a lot. Josie then tries some of Kelton's cod, and she likes that one as well. Kelton says a good piece of fish makes a difference. Kelton is proud of her for trying new things, and then the waiter brings them a cake to celebrate their anniversary. They love it and wish each other a happy anniversary.

Kelly is hosting a big family party to celebrate the September birthdays: Brandon, Judson, and Whitney. It will be a family dinner and game night and a good chance to spend time together. They decide to just do guys versus girls, and Lawson is assigned to keep score. They start with charades, and Lawson calls Bobby up to start. They act out camping. Josie, Erin, and Tori then act out pirates. Then, they switch to hangman. They start trying to figure out a phrase, and soon realize it says "New mini sequel releasing in April." Everyone tries to figure out what it means. Kelly asks Tori to help them figure it out. Bobby goes up to the board and erases the game and adds: "Tori is expecting" and everyone realizes what they were going for. Tori said the phrase was more difficult than she realized. Grandbaby #14 is coming soon.

Gil & Kelly go into the hospital to repair his torn rotator cuff. Kelly & Gil are nervous about the surgery, but they keep their sprits high and joke with the nurses. Dr. Matthew Rappe comes in to initial the correct shoulder. Kelly says Dr. Rappe is a confident doctor and she knows this is the right call. Gil sends a message to the family. As surgery draws closer, he is getting more nervous. Kelly sends him off, and he heads in for the surgery.

The surgery begins, and Dr. Rappe begins his work to repair the shoulder. They actually show a bit of the surgery, such as Dr. Rappe using a camera and tools on the shoulder. Dr. Rappe heads back to Kelly and says it is over, Gil did well, and he was in recovery. Lawson and Kelly bring him home.

Next, it is Carlin & Evan's gender reveal party, and Carlin is so ready to find out the baby’s gender. Everyone begins arriving and guessing which gender they think it is. Carlin says she each person takes a blue or pink lunch box depending on their guess. After lunch,  everyone forms a circle around Carlin & Evan as Erin and Whitney pass out water guns. Kelly is worried a trigger happy youngster might spoil the surprise.  Everyone counts down and then sprays Carlin & Evan with pink paint and confetti. It's a girl! Erin is looking forward to all these girls being best friends in the future. Carlin & Evan are thrilled. Gil says that Tori must be having the boy he guessed, but Kelly wants her to keep up the girl trend. Carlin is glad they got to share that moment together with their family.

*Episode 7: A Pizza Katie's Heart

Erin, Carlin, Tori, Whitney, and Kelly arrive at Dr. Vick's office. All the pregnant sisters have appointments. Tori says this is the first time four of them have been pregnant at once, and so they thought it would be fun to have ultrasounds together. Whitney is due first, so she does her ultrasound first. Everyone really enjoys seeing the ultrasound. Whitney is delighted to see the baby has hair. She says she always has heartburn so she hopes her babies have full heads of hair.  Whitney is so excited for Khloé to arrive. Erin goes next and says she always wants to know if the baby has a hair and how big the nose is. In a talking head, Chad says that baby's noses are often smooshed up against the side, so they appear bigger than they are on ultrasounds, which is why Erin asks.  Carlin is next, and she says she cannot see anything on ultrasounds—they just look like blobs to her. Carlin eventually sees some features and cannot believe that is her child and she is joining the mom club. Tori is next, and says she is so barely pregnant compared to the others.  Tori learns her baby is about 2 1/2 inches long. Tori is glad to see the baby moving around. Tori says doing the ultrasound together was special. Tori is getting tested for the same clotting disorders that Erin and Carlin have. Dr. Vick comes in, and says he heard a wonderful party in the ultrasound room. Kelly apologizes for being loud, and Dr. Vick says they are so excited. Dr. Vick then tells Tori she also has the clotting disorder. Tori is glad they're at least doing it together, and jokes "it's the party! let's all join it!"

All the couples are going on a date night, and the grandkids are having a big sleepover at Gil & Kelly's. Erin says she wouldn't say her kids are well behaved—her girls are her wild children. Cue Brookie running around laughing and Everly licking a pack’n’play.

Meanwhile, the couples all go out for a big date at a restaurant.  The couples talk about the big Bates family vacation coming up. Kelton is particularly excited as he hasn't been able to go on a Bates vacation before. The couples then ask if anyone has heard from the babysitters. Whitney says she hopes they're all just sitting nicely but doesn't think that's the case...

It isn’t the case. Carson and Bradley are wrestling. Katie says as the oldest girl at home, she's been roped in to help. She doesn't mind helping except that she has early classes in the morning,  so she wants to get them in bed early. There is a lot of energy, but kids begin to settle down. Kelly says the real deal is that this is a great cover up to surprise Katie—Travis is outside with pizza and flowers.

Travis knocks, and then walks in with pizza and flowers, and Katie immediately runs away. Katie comes back out and Gil is delighted by the surprise. Katie said she knew her instinct should be to run towards them, but her instincts told her to run away. Katie is surprised with her early birthday surprise. Katie says she and Travis met through mutual friends a few months ago and started messaging each other. They were getting along, so she and her parents flew up to meet his family. That went well, so they're still talking.

The next day, Travis, his sister Kayla, and a bunch of Bates siblings head out for lunch. Travis jokes about Katie's love for chicken and fries. Kelly asks if anyone knows what a leek is and no one is sure. Katie says she can only make Ramen noodles. Katie says she has a lot of nerves but she is enjoying this time. Travis gives Katie her birthday present. It is a pretty box that, when opened, has pictures of them across the top, starting from when they met to now.  Inside the box is a ballcap, and a few more goodies. Katie is really touched by the gift.  Kelly then ask how long they've been talking. Travis says it will be 3 months on the 27th.  Katie says that out of all the siblings, he hasn’t met Alyssa, Nathan, or Trace. Kelly invites him to join them on the family vacation to meet them. Travis is excited to get to meet everybody. Kelly says they’re young, so this relationship better be in it for the long haul. Lawson says you always want the best for your siblings and so it is nice to see their relationship develop. Travis says they should get ice cream after lunch, and Katie is excited and says he knows her so well.

Downtown is Katie’s favorite ice cream place. Carlin says pizza and ice cream is the key to Katie’s heart. Travis gets vanilla, and she doesn’t love that he only eats vanilla ice cream. After teasing him about getting vanilla, it is revealed that this ice cream shop calls their vanilla “sweet cream” and Katie got the same thing. When Travis goes to try it, Katie tries to push the cone into his face. Everyone laughs, and then it is time for the classic fundie date: mini golf! A very competitive game of mini gold begins, and Travis gets a hole in one.  Callie says Katie isn’t a big sports person. Katie gets nervous and starts missing. Travis steps in to help, but Katie ends up taking the L and moving on. The game starts devolving for everyone, but they keep playing and laughing. Kelly says it is important to enjoy this time of being friends at the start of a relationship—enjoy each other and hug. “Hug?” asks Gil, “wait on the hugging.” The game ends, and Katie said this was an exciting day and her best birthday yet.

*Episode 8: A Great Bates Getaway

Trace has injured himself during flag football: he broke his finger while grabbing a flag. His surgery has been scheduled for the first day of vacation. Trace is worried about his first surgery, and Nathan and Lawson are picking on him to stress him out. Still, Chaney is coming over at midnight and she is going along to the surgery with him. He hopes it will go fast and he will manage to make it to the rest of the vacation.

The next day, the rest of the family begins to head to Gatlinburg for their family vacation. It will be more than 40 people. Before they go to their cabin, which they will check into at 4pm, they start off at Wonder Works, which Kelly thinks will entertain the family. First, they go through a tunnel with lights, which creates the illusion that you're spinning and makes you feel dizzy even though you're not. They take a picture altogether, and Katie is excited that Travis is with them all. The family plays games, blows bubbles, and goes on rides. Judson and Alyssa play a game together, and Judson insists he wins. Alyssa jokes that she won, but she'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Trace's surgery is over, and it went well, so Gil, Trace, and Chaney arrive at Wonder Works. He has a bit of trouble going through the tunnel due to the medicine, but he seems glad to join the fun. Travis and Katie decide to go on a roller coaster simulator, and Nathan jokes that their better not be any hanky panky in the enclosed space. You know, as you do, surrounded by your family. Nathan says Travis seems great. Nathan says Katie is a teaser, so she deserves getting some of it back. Warden joins in, and Katie says they'll be strapped in and fine. Katie says everyone feels it is their duty to be their chaperone. As it goes, Katie freaks out from the ride, so everyone's fears about kissing were unfounded. It is finally time to head to the cabin and Kelly is worried about room arrangements.

The cabin is gorgeous, lovely and rustic and surrounded by fall foliage and mountains. Kelly says renting a cabin for all these people is a huge challenge, and so Kelly needs time to assign rooms. Tori is going to be her assistant. Tori says sometimes you get roped into things in a big family, but they eventually got it figured out.  It is dinner time, so the groceries are unloaded and Kelly starts dinner. Kelly gives everyone a job to get things going. Michael and Brandon arrive, and Callie rushes to greet them. Michael says she finished school early so she could come.  It is dinner time, and everyone eats together and then gathers in the living room. Tomorrow is Kelly's birthday, and the grandkids have gifts to give her. Kelly is overwhelmed by her presents. Next, everyone praises to Kelly; Callie goes first and talks about how giving Kelly is. Kelton, Bobby, and Brandon bring in cakes and everyone sings. Kelly says getting to see everyone on the trip means more to her than the gifts.

The next morning, everyone is trying to get ready and out the door. Kelly & Gil do a product placement for Sensodyne toothpaste. It is very obvious, cringey, and makes me reconsider my toothpaste choices.

The Bates head up to a little town on top of a mountain. They take chairlifts up to the top of the mountain. The pregnant people, Josie, and the kids go out to eat while the others partake in the activities. Those not going out to eat go to the treetop skywalk, which is a rope bridge walkway. It’s so pretty, but definitely not for those scared of heights. They take photos with the pretty scenery. Travis and Katie are good time—it is chaotic, but organized chaos. Next up is the big family picture.  Bobby and Tori want to announce the gender of their baby, so Bobby has distributed confetti poppers among some of the guys to set off during the photo. Kelly organizes the picture, and one of Chaney’s sisters takes it.  As she does, the guys set off the confetti poppers, and they’re blue. Bobby announces they’re having a boy!  Everyone is excited by the surprise, and the first boy after all the girls who are on the way. The Bates had a great trip, and Kelly says every vacation gets better and better.

*Episode 9: Nesting Mode & Mommies on a Mission

At nursing school, Michael and her fellow students are learning about phlebotomy. Michael says she's had some experience, but it's been a while. She has her associates in medical science and her EMT-A from when she was younger. Michael says she isn't sure where she wants to go with nursing, but she wanted to go to school. The instructor shows them the technique. In talking heads, Erin says it is great having Michael back in town and to see her pursuing her dream of nursing school. Josie says she's had a knack for caring for people and so this is a natural fit for her.  Michael says she loves lab days, and that is what she most looks forward to. The students attempt to draw blood from model arms. Michael says she feels like focusing is so important. Michael successfully performs the procedure, and she says her teachers always say to be the kind of nurse you'd want to have, and she hopes her future patients will know she cares. She is looking forward to becoming a nurse.

At Josie's house, Erin and Addallee arrive to help around the house. Addee immediately takes the baby. Erin says today it is time to focus on the fireplace. Josie wants a more minimalist, boho look and the dark red brick fireplace isn't it. Erin and Josie are going to do a German smear technique on the bricks. Chad and Lawson arrive to also help.  Chad and Lawson take the mantle off the fireplace before they begin to use the German smear.  Lawson says Josie should keep the mantle, and Erin jokingly tells Josie to offer to sell it to him. Josie does, and Lawson says he doesn't even have a girlfriend, so he's not getting a house anytime soon. Erin says he should get on that. In talking heads, Callie says it is "very odd" that Lawson is 27 and doesn't have a girlfriend. Erin teaches them how to do the German smear. Erin isn't sure about Lawson's technique. Josie says she wants to try it, and says Lawson is better at his music. With Chad's help, they manage to get it going. Erin says she didn't last very long working on it, but Chad steps in to finish it. Chad says he realizes he'll have to see the project through, and they manage to get the project done. Josie loves how it came out and she is exciting to finish up the house and see it all together.

Brandon & Michael have the little kids and grandkids at their house for their traditional fall caramel apple making session. Brandon is excited to have the kids over, but he's worried they'll make the house sticky. Michael says Addee, Ellie, and Callie have transitioned from being little kids to being helpers at the caramel apple session. Callie says it is hard to make caramel apples with the hot stove and lots of little kids. Michael and Brandon help the kids dip apples and then send them back out to the living room. Kade gets a taste of the caramel sauce, and he loves it. Michael says they won't tell Tori about it. The producers tell Tori, and she laughs and says she knew she'd have something there. While the apples set, the kids go out to play in the leaves. Brandon & Michael and all the grandkids have a blast.

Erin goes over to Zach & Whitney’s to help with the girls’ bedroom. Erin helped Whitney put it together, and now they are doing the final touches. It is soft and girly, with unicorns for Kaci Lynn. They are both excited with how the room has come out, and Whitney is glad to have Erin’s help with decorating. Whitney asks Erin what she will do with four kids in one bedroom, and Erin says they have bunk beds with a trundle and a crib—there’s no room for dressers. They're looking for more space, but the location is so important to Erin. She'd love to be near Whitney so the cousins can grow up close, but they're waiting for the right place. Whitney says she is beyond ready for Khloé to be here. It's been a while since they've had a newborn, and she is looking forward to it.

*Episode 10: Taking Care of Business & Florida Fun

Gil is recovering from surgery, so his sons are helping him do some tree work. Lawson offers to go into the bucket of the truck, which surprises his brothers and fathers. Trace is also helping, but he did recently break his finger and have surgery. So, both Gil and Trace are working one-handed. Nathan ends up going in the bucket, and the brothers start working. Nathan cuts, and Gil starts dragging branches. The boys make him sit and watch. They keep working on the tree, and Jackson arrives from college. He looks nice, but he gets ready to jump in and help. They get the tree down working together, and then they finish up the job. Gil says he couldn't do anything, but the boys tell him he shouldn't do anything in the circumstances. They take a photo of the brothers all working together to commemorate the moment.

At Erin's, she is fixing dinner with her kids all in the kitchen. Erin says the big question with the new baby is how to make four kids fit in one bedroom. Erin says their bodies are little so they fit in littler places. Gil and Kelly say they fit 8 kids in an 800 sq foot two bedroom home back in the day. Brooklyn wants Holland in her bed, but Erin plans to start her in their room and eventually move Everly to the trundle under the bunk beds. Erin says she feels bad that Carson will have to share with all these girls, and Carson says, "I do not like being stuck with the girls!" Erin & Chad say they need to move in the next year or so. Erin says she doesn't want a big house, just one more bedroom and bathroom. Chad agrees. Erin says if a flip house came along that would be nice, but she really likes the idea of Chad building something. Chad agrees and says they should look for property. Moving will be hard, but they'll start looking for the right place.

Gil & Kelly are visiting Alyssa, John, and the girls for some special grandparent bonding time. They are looking forward to spending time together in light of Alyssa's health issues. Kelly gives the girls a bead set and some princesses dresses. Gil got them at a discount store, Kelly guesses immediately and is correct. Kelly, Allie, and Lexie start making necklaces. Zoey takes Gil to her toy kitchen and starts playing with her. In a talking head, the Bates siblings reminisce about how playful Gil was growing up. Kelly says it was so sweet to see him get on their level and play. The family decides to head out, and John takes Gil to his barber. The barber is deaf, and Gil knows some signs so they chat. His wife is also there to interpret. They have fun watching Gil get his hair done and joking about his style. John says this is special to him since Earl is the only person who has cut his hair since he's had hair, with one exception—he once got a haircut while Earl was out of town, and hated it, and never did it again. John grew up as a neighbor to Earl and his family and was close with his kids. John knows sign language, and he has been passing it on to his girls. Gil is inspired and thinks his haircut is great.

After church, Gil, Kelly, Alyssa, John, and the girls head out for a picnic. Alyssa has prepared a fancy picnic, and Allie says grace before they dig in. Alyssa says it has been a hard year: she was diagnosed with heart problems and had surgery. The first surgery failed, and the second procedure went ahead. Alyssa says she has some issues, but she thinks the problem was fixed. Alyssa says she has some signs of AFib which is more treatable with medicine. Alyssa says in six months she'll have a stress test. They then talk about all the new babies in the family, and Lexi says she is going to have a new baby, too. They ask her what kind, and she says, "an orange baby" and Gil says that's because she's a Florida person. Alyssa also says she is going to Mama Jane's for two weeks to visit, and John will come for one week since he can't take that much off work. Trace has offered to drive Alyssa to their grandparents. John does work with heat and air systems, so summer is prime time for him. Kelly says some boys have thought about going into heat and air, and she says they should come apprentice with John. Alyssa says she would love Warden to, but Gil doesn't want another kid to move. Alyssa wants a family member nearby, though. With all this, Alyssa is glad to get to spend time with her parents and Gil & Kelly are also glad to spend time with their family. They take some pictures to remember the trip.

*Episode 11: Brandon's Book and Kelly Jo's New Look

Chad comes home with a bunch of gifts for Erin. Chad wanted to show some love to Erin during her pregnancy. The kids help her open the gifts: they got her a foot bath and a bunch of spa stuff to treat herself. Carson is four and wants to help out. Whitney says when you have two kids or more, all your stuff just turns into family stuff. They set up the foot bath and all the kids start putting their feet in. Evie tries to put her whole body in. The family has a good time, even though Everly ends up soaking wet. Erin says she is getting into the home stretch and cannot wait to meet Holland. Erin ask Carson if he'll spoil his future wife with foot massages, and he says he'll get her a foot bath too—and then says it will be for himself.

Brandon & Michael have been working on a children's book for three years, and it is finally published. They prepare to do a book signing for it.  Brandon says it is crazy to see the book in hard copy after all this time. Gil says Brandon is a behind-the-scenes person, so it is nerve-wracking to for him to put himself out there. Brandon reads Chapter 5 to the kids at the book signing, and he tries to keep them engaged. Judson says he is good at reading books to kids. Callie says the book signing went really well. Brandon is excited they got the book done and it is out and available now. Michael is proud of him and excited to see the turnout.

Kelly Jo arrives to Josie & Kelton's. Kelly & Gil have a big date planned for their anniversary. Josie and Katie decided it would be fun to help get her ready. Kelly says they don't do fancy dates often, so this is a big deal. Josie is excited to try a different look on her mom, who is not used to change. Kelly asks her about her company, and Josie says she found wedding hair was her passion so herself and a friend started a business. She booked three weddings on Saturday and six in the next year.  Josie said her and her friend they call their business Effortless Beauty since they want their clients’ wedding day to be effortless. Katie and Carlin arrive.  Katie will do her makeup, and Carlin has brought some options from the boutique. Her kids all agree that she has a specific style, and it is exciting to see her change it up. Josie does Kelly’s hair, Katie does her makeup, and Carlin paints her nails. Katie talks about spending a week with Travis’s family, saying that it was fun getting to see his family in their element. The trip was a big first for Katie, and Katie says she hopes their relationship will keep progressing. Katie says they have had a fight, but they're still getting to know each other. Josie finishes an updo that Kelly loves. Katie and Carlin decide to try false eyelashes, which they did not learn in cosmetology school. It takes a minute for them to figure it out.

The girls have finished with Kelly Jo’s look, and it is time to pick a dress. First, she tries a classic back maxi dress. They all love it. The girls all agree she looks stunning. Carlin leaves to go back home to watch her siblings, and Gil arrives to pick up Kelly. Gil is excited to get to see her. They turn Gil around, and Kelly walks out to surprise him. Gil turns around, and he is impressed. Kelly says she can't remember dressing up for a date for a while. Gil says she looked hot and different from how she usually does. Kelly says seeing Gil all dressed up and holding roses made her feel like a teenager again. They head out, and Josie and Katie agree that they're the cutest couple.

Gil & Kelly Jo head out to a fancy restaurant and are impressed with the Christmas decor and live piano.  Kelly says they should do this more often. Gil has a surprise for Kelly that he pulls out of his pocket. It is a necklace, and Kelly loves it. Kelly thinks he had help, and Gil agrees that he did have help. Kelly says the fact that he wanted to pick some special for her is enough for her. They start eating and enjoy the date. Kelly says the big secret to their relationship is their commitment, knowing that they are committed to each other no matter what comes their way. They're still best friends. Gil agrees and adds that, in a relationship, you have to feel safe with each other, be close with each other, and be willing to sacrifice for your spouse.

*Episode 12: Holiday Cheer and New Baby Khloé is Here!

At the Museum of Appalachia, Bradley and Whitney are visiting some sheep. Whitney is worried Bradley is feeling like it has been all about the girls lately, so she wanted to spend some time together. After that, they get some lunch. Whitney says Bradley and Kaci have a special bond and that Bradley will be happy when the baby comes. Bradley says he is going to help Khloé when she cries, and Whitney helps Bradley feel Khloé kicking. Whitney says it is special to get some one on one time with Bradley before the baby gets here.

Kaci and Zach are having a tea party. Zach says Kaci ends up playing what Bradley wants to play most of the time so he wanted to give her some time to do her own thing. He sets up cookies and asks if chocolate milk is okay because they don't have any tea. They end up deciding to make hot chocolate.  Zach keeps the hot chocolate pretty cool so he can try to put it in Kaci's little plastic tea pot, but it leaks anyway. Zach ends up putting the hot chocolate in a pink stainless steel water bottle. In a talking head, Bobby says he hopes they have a baby girl one day so he can get to spend that quality time with his daughter. Evan says he is excited about all the girl bonding he'll get to do soon. Zach and Kaci have cookies and hot chocolate and he shows her how to hold her pinky out. Zach says he hopes Kaci remembers the special times they spent together the same way he cherishes those memories with his parents.

Mama Jane is coming and Erin is due soon, so the Bates family are decorating for Christmas soon. Kelly says she hates setting up the Christmas decorations because it is such a busy time, so she's doing it early and keeping them up longer. Erin is put in charge of the decorating, and she gets everyone to work. As they are decorating, it starts snowing outside. Ellie says it is so magical that that happened. They wrap up for the day, and Kelly says things are set if someone goes into labor.

At Zach & Whitney's house, Bradley is bringing the car seat to the car.  Whitney thinks she is in labor, and the family is on the move. They drop the kids off and then head to the doctors. Whitney & Zach are in the hospital, and they are excited that Khloé seems to be on the way quickly. Whitney gets a room and her epidural and now they're waiting. The family is there hanging out as well and waiting for labor to progress. Carlin is filming their labor again. Erin arrives to say hi, and Zach & Whitney are in great spirits. Gil & Kelly and the Perkins are also there hanging out. Erin says Whitney makes everyone feel special by including them in her births. Whitney says when you marry into a big family, everything ends up being big. Dr. Vick comes in to check on her, and Whitney says she feels fantastic and they kick everyone out for a check. Whitney is 7 centimeters, and everyone is thrilled she is progressing so far. Whitney is feeling a lot of love going towards her baby and is excited to meet her.

A bit later, Whitney is 9 centimeters and it is nearly time for baby. Tori is jealous that everyone will have little babies while she'll be stuck being pregnant for a while. Kelly tells her it will fly. Whitney says this is the first of the four babies on the way, which has been special, and it’s exciting to be there for each other's births. Whitney is 10 centimeters, and everyone celebrates. Whitney and Zach are emotional as they know they will meet their daughter soon. Whitney pushes, and Khloé arrives and is placed in her arms. Khloé grabs Whitney's finger, and everyone melts. Erin says newborns are so special and tiny.

Bradley and Kaci arrive to meet Khloé, and Bradley is so excited. Kaci is a little more unsure. Bradley says she is so precious he could eat her up, and Kaci says, "Me too!" Bradley holds the baby, and everyone loves it. Whitney says it was a beautiful day with lots of love in the room and praters answered. Khloé is perfect, and the day was perfect.

*Episode 13: Holiday Traditions and Baby Additions!

Zach & Whitney are home with Khloé, and Bradley refuses to let Kaci hold her. Whitney says he is very possessive of her. Whitney asks if he can be a big brother to both Kaci and Khloé, and Bradley says no, Kaci is too much. Both siblings squabble over who gets to hold the baby, and Whitney says this is Kaci's first time with a newborn and she loves her. The whole big Bates family comes over to see Khloé. Kelly says it can be overwhelming to bring a big crowd to hold the baby. Callie says they always get excited for a new niece or nephew. Gil says it is special how much the whole family is excited for each new baby. Kelly takes a photo holding Khloé. Kelly says she always gets a photo with each new grandbaby so she can remember those moments going forward. They say grace and have some pizza and then continue passing the baby around.

Next, it is Carlin & Evan's baby shower and Carlin says she feels like they were just here for their wedding shower. Kelly forgot to pick up the subs, so some of the boys bring in pizza. Whitney and Erin, who would usually be a big part of planning the event, are not a big help due to their pregnancies. Carlin says she is ready to make it through her pregnancy, but it is so much work. There are a bunch of guys at this shower, which is nontraditional, but the family enjoys it. Judson says he's there for the food. Evan opens the party with some thank yous, and then they games. Meagan Stewart was the hostess of the games since Erin is very pregnant. The first game is stacking a tower of diapers: Carlin is against her mom and Evan's mom. Carlin says there is a lot of competition, but she'll get them with her strategy—that is, when she thinks of one. At the end of the game, all the towers fall. Carlin takes her mother-in-law's hands off her tower to make it fall and says that probably wasn't a good move. Next, Tori, Alyssa, and Zach compete to pull wipes out of a container fastest, which all of them agree is a waste; Tori wins. Next up is Evan, Kelton, and Ethan who are having a baby food eating contest (fruit flavors). The guys go all out, and Evan ends up winning. Meagan then announces that Evan will go again in the vegetable round. Evan gets Nathan and his brother-in-law Ben to compete with him. This one is much more difficult. Everyone is grossed out, and Ben wins. Finally, it is time for gifts. Evan & Carlin are overwhelmed with the support and they are excited for baby to arrive.

Shortly afterwards, Carlin is on her way to Erin's to film her birth. Erin is having contractions and thinks it won't be long now. Chad starts packing and loading up the van. Chad & Erin head into the hospital. Chad says on the fourth time along, Erin knows this is labor and they start driving towards the hospital. Dr. Vick lets the hospital know she's coming. Erin is nervous about the potential complications of her blood clotting disorder but she is almost there. Erin & Chad are admitted and put in a room. Erin is 4cm dilated and the epidural is on the way. Whitney, Kelly and Tori rush in, so excited for the baby. Erin is calm, waiting for her epidural. They are surprised she is in good spirits. Gil arrives after the epidural to say hi to her. Erin is so excited to meet her baby. Gil falls asleep on a chair in the room and snores, which makes Kelly, Erin, and Chad laugh. Dr. Vick arrives and says they are going to get the show on the road. Erin's contractions slow down a little and Erin is given oxygen in order to ease her breathing to help her progress. Baby's heart-rate is dropping a little, which another cause for concern.

Erin says she is feeling better with the oxygen mask. Chad says it is always hard for him to know how best to help her. Erin says Chad is her rock and she wants him right there with her for labor. Erin begins pushing, and it doesn't take long for Holland to be in her arms. Erin is worried about the baby, but all is well and Erin & Chad are in love with her. Erin says having a baby is always special and it is so sweet to meet your baby for the first time. Carlin says all she could think about while watching the birth was "I'm next!"—this is a new experience for her. Everyone prays, and Erin thanks them for staying up all night.  Whitney dresses Holland for the first time, and says she seems so fragile. The rest of the little Paines arrive, and Chad is so excited to bring them in. All the kids have brought stuffed animals for Holland, and Erin is so excited for them to meet. Carson holds her, and Brooklyn softly puts her hand on the baby. Kelly says it is important for the kids to learn how to be gentle with the baby. Josie says she doesn't know how they handle four kids, but they are amazing. Josie says just two more of the sisters are still pregnant.

Zach & Whitney and Trace & Chaney are going ice skating, as Trace & Chaney are spending their first Christmas together. Chaney is excited to spend time with Zach & Whitney and go on a special date with Trace. Zach says it is important as a parent to keep prioritizing your spouse and do something special with them. Trace says their last chaperones were Jed and Jud, so this is a step up. Whitney says Jed and Jud are better skaters than they are. The couples get on the ice, and Trace is not confident in his skating ability. He has some trouble, but they quickly get moving around the ice. Whitney is sticking towards the side of the rink and says she did just have a baby so she wants to be holding on. Eventually, she moves along off the side of the rink, and Trace & Chaney cheer them on. Zach & Whitney say they didn't ice skate when they were dating, but they did drive Go Karts and often went horseback riding.  Trace says it is nice to get new ideas about what to do. Chaney says he is good about planning dates. Trace says long distance relationships are hard, but he has lots of good advice from Zach & Whitney. Chaney says it was fun to hear about Zach & Whitney's story since you can see how much they love each other. Whitney says it was a lot of fun getting to spend time with them, even if she did look like a little baby deer on the ice. (In my opinion, she looked really good on the ice!)

The Bates family are gathering at the big house to practice some Christmas carols. The Bates family has a big emphasis on music and using it as a ministry. They used to always go caroling in nursing homes or assisted living facilities to spread cheer, and they’ve decided to bring that back. They practice "Go Tell it on the Mountain." Carlin is worried about their performance. The rehearsal doesn't go perfectly, and they have to look up the words. Kelly is worried caroling at the nursing home might not go well. Michael says one of her favorite memories is taking treats to people in need, so she is preparing treats with Carson for the nursing home.  The family figures out the song, and heads to the nursing home.

The family heads to the nursing home to sing to the residents there. Zach says he has zero confidence they will sound harmonious, but that isn't what it's about. The family sings, and Isaiah says that the best part of singing with a big family is no one can hear you. They finish the song, and the residents clap. Kelton says it went okay, and they were thankful they had a forgiving crowd. Bradley and Carson sing “Jingle Bells” together, and Whitney says they are like brothers and they love singing together. That is a hit, and Carson comes out to sing "Jesus Loves Me" all on his own, and Erin is so proud of how brave he is. Bobby says a performer was born. The family comes together to sing "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and the residents sing along. It is really a nice moment, and Erin says it warms her heart. The Bates family then passes out their treats and talk with the audience.

In the talking heads, Josie says they have been so blessed this year and love sharing that with the other parents. Erin says you can find parents who are more rested than herself and Chad, but you can't find happier parents. Carlin says she is trying to just keep up with life this year. Nathan says 2019 was amazing, and so much has happened. Kelly asks, “Who would have thought they'd be sitting in this happy place, surrounded by so many kids, grandkids, and special times to come?”

*Episode 14: Roaring Bates and Pending Due Dates

The Bates are excited about the new year: Carlin and Tori are both expecting and there are new relationships budding. At Carlin & Evan's, Erin & Chad arrive to help with Layla's nursery. Carlin says that when she found out she was having a girl, everything became pink. Erin loves to help her family decorate and Chad has all the tools and the knowledge to bring the vision to life. Carlin says her sisters make labor and delivery look easy, and Erin tells her to get an epidural. Carlin says the thought of labor is different when it is you who has to go through it. Carlin, Evan, and Erin work to make up the crib while Chad takes the door off. Carlin asks him to stop it from squeaking and Evan says he could've done that. Evan says he isn't the most handy, but he can do a lot, especially with instructions and how-to videos. Chad hangs Layla's name and some curtains, and says he loves helping people out. Everyone loves how cute the room turns out, and it is almost time to welcome Layla.

It is time for Josie & Kelton's housewarming party, and Kelly says this is a Bates family first. Kelly brought some plants for them. Kelton says the progress on the home has been a team effort getting, and the Jose & Kelton are very grateful for everyone’s help. Josie says it looks like a totally different house. Erin says she loves that Josie's house feels homey. Chad is proud of the mantle that he pulled out of an old farmhouse he was flipping. Kelton's new plumbing venture has been going well, and Josie's new wedding business is already taking off and she has booked a few weddings that are coming up. Kelly says Josie & Kelton have taken on a lot as a new married couple.

Carlin is one week out from her induction date, and she is going to her last appointment. Evan has to work, so Kelly is with Carlin. They are so excited to see baby Layla on the ultrasound. Layla is 6 pounds now, and so Carlin guesses she'll be around 6 and a half pounds at the induction. Carlin feels good about the induction date. The ultrasound tech is watching the diaphragm for respiratory movements. Carlin jokes that she is stubborn like her mom. They decide to call in Dr. Vick to talk about it, and he asks if Carlin feels her moving. She says she isn't right now. Dr. Vick decides to put her on a monitor just to check things out. Carlin is really nervous about this, and Kelly keeps reassuring her that the heartbeat is good and the baby is safe and they are just acting with an abundance of caution. Carlin is worried about the heparin shots and everything she has read. While Kelly works to calm her down, Carlin begins to panic. Kelly tells Carlin she isn't panicking. Dr. Vick comes back and says the test looks good, but Carlin still isn't feeling her move like she has been. Dr. Vick decides to send her to the hospital.

At the hospital, Carlin is 3cms dilated and has gotten her epidural. They are excited to meet Layla, and labor is progressing quickly. Carlin quickly gets to 9.5cms, and she is getting scared that she is going to push. Carlin says pretty soon they are going to meet Layla. Carlin calls her sisters, who are unable to be there since she can only have 3 people in the room. Erin says they are praying for her and waiting in the waiting room. Dr. Vick says it is time to push, and the anesthesiologist actually holds Carlin's phone on Facetime so she can have her sisters with her.

As Carlin begins pushing, she says she is staring at Evan, and their connection is so deep—deeper than on their wedding day. Carlin pushes for a few minutes, and suddenly, Layla is on her chest. The Bates in the waiting room rejoice. Carlin says there is nothing in the world like that moment, and what a privilege it is to get to be her parents. Finally, Whitney, Erin and Tori are allowed in the room and they rush in to congratulate her. Carlin & Evan take photos with their newborn daughter and Carlin is so excited for her long journey with Layla Rae.

Kelly, Gil, Trace, and Zach (with Khloé) are going out to dinner to talk to Trace. Trace has told them he wants to share something. Kelly begins talking about their Valentine's Day plans—their big party will be at the Church fellowship hall, and then the couples’ dinner will be at the cabin they have previously rented for the event. Kelly then asks Trace if he and Chaney are coming to the couples dinner. Trace takes a deep breath and says that over the holidays Chaney told Trace they should part ways, as she didn't see them working out. Trace says they were both new to relationships, and that communication was hard. Trace felt like they were close to the next step when she ended it, which really was difficult for them. Location was a really big reason for their split. Long distance was hard, and they have a lot of respect and love for each other. Trace says this will be the best decision for both of them. Zach says you learn two things from a breakup: 1) a lot of the things you want to be as a man, and 2) a lot of the things that are gonna be really important to you in a woman. Trace says Zach has been through this before, so he can be helpful. Kelly says when having the relationship like they had, making the commitment to stay pure, there is a whole lot less sorrow. Trace says he is grateful for his parents' advice and they have no regrets looking back at their relationship.

At Gil's church, Gil & Kelly arrive. All the older daughters are there already to help set up. This is 2020, so the theme for the party is Roaring ‘20s. Kelly says each year they added something to the event—a few years ago, they added costumes. Everyone isn't too sure about the ‘20s style theme—Bobby notes that a "flapper" is a part in a toilet—but they are going to dress up anyways. Erin says she won't be recognizable. Whitney says some people are very competitive with the costumes. Carlin is like a week and a half postpartum but going strong and there to help set up. Carlin says she’s had some challenges postpartum, but it's been a thrill. Lawson won't make it because he is in the Philippines helping get heart surgery for a little girl. The family gets all the decorations up, and Kelly is really excited with how it turned out.

The couples’ dinner has become a traditional part of the Valentine's Day festivities. Erin and Zach have taken the lead on cooking for the event. Erin gets going, and Zach says he is going to do what he does anyways. Erin says with their family, there is a lot of chaos. Erin says having a lot of cooks in the kitchen makes it difficult. Regardless, things come together. Katie & Travis arrive, and it is their first couples' dinner. Katie introduces him to Mama Jane & Papa Bill. Travis’s flight got cancelled, which made Katie nervous, but he managed to make it on time. Mama Jane says she likes him. Gil prays, and everyone is excited for the food. Everyone eats and is amazed at the cooking. Next, it is time for games. First off is a scratch-to-win. Erin and Travis win. Next, Kelly says one thing the 1920s was famous for was the Charleston. No one is quite sure what that is, and Kelly has video for them to follow along. Mostly, the guys get volunteered, and Evan is the most enthusiastic. Travis, Kelton, Bobby, and Zach put in a good effort. Everyone laughs, and notes that Gil has really relaxed the no dancing rule. Kelly is proud of them for trying, and they all won in her heart. They all get a prize for participating. Kelly says it was the perfect kick off, and tomorrow is the big day.

The next day, everyone arrives in costume and starts taking pictures. Everyone goes way out for the big day. Katie says this is her first I Love You day with Travis and her first time dressing up. He is surprised with the level of costumes. Erin says they are adorable together. The Bates give their caterers a round of applause, and then it is time for the costume contest. The caterers have offered to serve as judges for the costume contest. Gil is the third judge since the kids see him as being very neutral. The families and couples go first. Chad went as Albert Einstein, which was very well done. Bobby did Charlie Chaplin. Evan is Al Capone. Gil says it was a tough group to judge, but they pick a top three. 3rd: Zach & Whitney, 2nd: the Websters, 1st: the Paines. Erin is thrilled to beat Carlin & Evan, who promise they'll be back next year. Lawson calls in, and they have a special award for the "Biggest Heart," which they give to Lawson for his work; his prize is actually a glass heart. Kelly was proud of him, and she wanted to start a new tradition and honor the character they want this day to be about. Finally, it is time for gifts, and everyone is grateful for a fun day. Kelly says they are blessed to have everyone doing so well, and this party was a great kick off to "roaring 2020."

*Episode 15: A Double Date & Something to Celebrate!

Tori, Ellie, and Kade are at Dr. Vick's to check on the baby. Tori is 29 weeks and has been doing heparin shots. Tori sees Kolter on the ultrasound screen, and she is excited and tries to show them to Kade, who doesn't quite get it. The baby looks great and is measuring around 3 pounds. Tori says it feels a lot closer to see him so big. Dr. Vick comes to see Tori. Dr. Vick tells her it is time to pay attention to how much he is moving and she says he moves so much at night. Tori says the shots are going well and she doesn't have any bruises. Tori does not like the shots, but she has watched Erin deal with it so she feels like it's gone pretty smoothly. Bobby does a great job with the shots, Tori says, although Bobby jokes that he doesn't love inflicting pain on his wife. For now, things look good, and they head out of the office.

Katie, Travis, and Callie arrive at Josie & Kelton's for a pizza-making double date. Travis & Katie haven't made pizza before—Katie says she doesn't make things from scratch that often. The Balkas don't seem to have a rolling pin, so they attempt to roll the dough out with a glass. They begin trying to throw it over their head, like you see professionals do. Katie basically throws it onto Josie's head. Eventually, they manage to get it ready for the oven, and they add sauce, cheese, and toppings. They get it into the oven, and they start on their next pizza. Josie asks Travis when he will enter into a courtship with Katie, and he says, "hopefully soon." Kelton jokes about how to ask Gil: "Mr. Bates, I'm declarin' for your daughter" and they all laugh. Katie says they're ready for the next step, and it's all up to Travis. Everyone tries the pizza, and while it's hot, it's good.

The sisters that run the Bates Sisters Boutique and their baby daughters arrive at the warehouse for a meeting. Whitney has brought them all #sponsored Naked juice. Carlin says now that she has a baby, she is so thankful for the support of Erin and Whitney. Erin says that the boutique doesn't feel like a job, it’s more like they're living a dream. Erin says they want to rebrand the website for their first anniversary. Erin says they have a new hashtag: "#beyondoutwardbeauty" with free T-shirts with orders around the anniversary. Whitney says they want the business to be more than just a business. Carlin says they want to feel good about giving back and inspiring other women. They have found a women's ministry, Hands Up, about helping women get back on their feet. They are excited to work with them in the future.

At the main house, Lawson is home from the Philippines and they have decorated the whole house for him. He's missed Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthdays, and two new babies. Lawson says being away from home for so long makes you appreciate it so much more. He holds Layla and talks to Kade. Zach says they missed his sense of humor and his sweet side, and everyone missed him a lot. Lawson then shares an update on Esther, the little girl Nathan and Lawson have been working with to help her get heart surgery. Lawson wanted to get her in the right direction, and says with this condition, as a patient gets older, her heart ages 3 times as fast and eventually gives out. The local hospital is good but has refused to operate since they believe it is a hopeless situation. Lawson said this little girl needed someone to go to bat for her, and they are trying to get her to the US for the operation. Lawson has been working to coordinate her care. Esther got a stint, which was successful, and now she is ready for the next surgery. Once her heart is stronger, they'll go get Esther, bring her to the US and get the operation done. Zach says he really respects how hard Lawson worked for Esther. Carlin says a lot of people don't see how determined Lawson is, and how his work is an inspiration for everyone. Lawson is excited to get her the care she needs soon.

*Episode 16: Beauty and the Business

After Gil's surgery, he has been doing rehab to try to improve his shoulder. Gil uses a resistance band to do his rehab. Jeb sees him doing it and wants to join in but finds the resistance band quite tough to use. Jud heads over, and Kelly jokes that Jud could take him in a push-up contest, and Jeb jokes that that's how Gil got himself into this mess. The kids all agree that Gil’s one-handed push-up days should be behind him, but he will likely try it again. Gil says they are a few months away, but not yet.

At Josie's, she says she loved doing hair and liked her salon days but thinks updos and bridal hair are really her passions. She decided to start a special events bridal business with her friend. A bride has come in for a trial run, and Josie is excited to work with her. Josie says a trial run is important, and she and the bride chat about wedding planning. Carlin says Josie has a lot of wedding day preparation experience and this is a great fit for them. Kelton says he is so proud of Josie in her new venture. Josie finishes up on the bride, who likes her look. Josie is excited for the future.

At the main house, Katie is Facetiming Travis to talk about plans for her upcoming trip to New Jersey. Katie asks Travis if he thinks her parents should come along to meet his parents. Kelly says what Katie doesn't know is that Travis will be surprising Katie with a courtposal while they're there. Travis agrees to have her parents come, and Katie says she is so excited to see Travis.

Kelton has been in plumbing since he was 12, working with his uncle to grow his company. Kelton got his license at 18, got a degree in finance, and has always wanted to start his own small business. Bobby is working alongside him. Bobby is a newer plumber but does all the admin for the business. Bobby is trying to develop his skills to be as handy as his brothers-in-law. Kelton asks about the new baby, and Bobby says he is excited to see Kade be a big brother, but not ready to lose sleep. Kelton says it's funny that they're on six-month alternating cycles of sleep deprivation: first Bobby with Kade, then Kelton with Willow, and now Bobby again. Kelton jokes that if it ever lines up, the business will suffer. Kelton and Bobby install a beautiful clawfoot tub, and they are both excited to see how big they can grow their business.

It is Jackson and Addallee's birthday, and Jackson wanted to go skydiving. The family is going indoor skydiving, which Addee says she wouldn't have picked. After watching the video, she isn't sure she wants to do it. Everyone signs waivers, gets suited up, and makes their way toward the big fan. Jackson is excited, and Addee is nervous. Jackson goes first, and he has a blast. Lawson, Warden, and Ellie are next. Judson and Jeb love it. Jeb has a big grin on the whole time. Gil goes, and jokes that they turn the fan up for him. Addee is terrified, and doesn't want to do it, but it is her turn and she does it. The family finishes up, and everyone is talking about how fun it was. After skydiving, the family heads to a barbeque restaurant. At dinner, they talk about Jackson's plans to join the military. He wants to join the Marine Corps, but first he is going to the ALERT academy. ALERT stands for Air Land Emergency Rescue Team, which Jackson says is similar to a "boot camp." This is an IBLP program which we've seen several Duggar guys attend. It takes time from college, though, so Jackson will decide whether or not to finish college after ALERT. He does eventually plan to join the Marines, which Gil and Kelly are very proud of. Kelly says it is hard for a mom. Nathan says he thinks Jackson will excel. Kelly and Gil ask Addee next about her goals. She is fourteen now, and she is joyful and quiet. They say they haven't seen her get mad or in trouble. Next, they do their birthday praises. Lawson talks about Addee’s servant's heart and empathy, and says people notice. Gil says she doesn't complain and he wants her to stay a long time. Jackson is next, and Kelly says Jackson is smart, and he loved taking things apart to learn about them. Gil says it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle but they have established who they are and they really blessed their parents. Out of 19 kids, Kelly says, there are only 3 left who aren't in their teens. Gil says it is important to make special memories like birthday parties that will last a lifetime.

*Episode 17: I Love You to Piz-zas!

Kelly, Gil, and Katie are in New Jersey (NJ) for Travis's 19th birthday. Travis opens the door to greet him along with his mother, dad, brother, and sister. Travis is planning on asking Katie to enter into a courtship. Kelly has been left in the dark for the big day so she can't spoil it. Katie is excited for the families to get to know each other. The family members, all dressed up, head out to get ice cream before church. Gil gets a giant ice cream. Kelly asks Travis if he feels like an old man, and he says 19 feels good. Gil says Travis is such a gentleman: so nice and respectful. The ice cream outing is a success, and Katie is ready for the bigger celebration later.

Back in TN, the Bates Sisters Boutique team has outgrown their warehouse and they are pursuing more space. They arrive at a storefront, since they are considering opening a brick-and-mortar store. They like the location and the layout, but they aren't sure about moving to a storefront. They have a lot to think about.

Back in NJ, Travis's extended family has arrived for his birthday celebration. Travis sings with his cousins, and says his family is so close that his cousins feel like siblings. His aunt asks Katie how she likes NJ and she says it is good but different: faster pace and blunter people. Katie says she would be happy to live wherever if things keep going, and she likes the people in NJ. They sing and share a cake, and Travis is worried she will get smoosh some cake on him. He tells her not to do it a few times, but she does smoosh it a little on him. They both laugh it out. Travis is glad she is there for his birthday.

Later on, in NJ, Travis has planned an axe throwing event for the visitors. Katie is worried about throwing axes. Travis goes first and nails it. Katie is very worried about how this will go. She does it fine, and then they begin to play a tournament. They will play in pairs, and the top score will win. Travis & Katie get 14 points as a pair. The Clark parents end up with 33 points. The Bates are very impressed. Gil & Kelly end up with 20 points. Katie says even with losing, she had a lot of fun.

Back at the Clark’s home, the plan is go out to a fancy restaurant. Travis has a five senses themed courtposal and is also planning to sing. He is nervous for the big moment. They all arrive at the restaurant, where Travis has set up a sign that says, "I think you are SENSE-sational" and several gifts for Katie. The parents sit at a nearby table, and Katie is surprised by the sign and gifts. Travis says it is crazy how they have become best friends so quickly. He got her five gifts for each of the senses. “Sight” is a canvas with photos of the couple arranged in a heart shape; “taste” is a pizza; “smell” is perfume; “sound” is a song he wrote for her, and he also framed the lyrics for her. He then gets his guitar to sing for her. BUB has a popup to helpfully inform us that the song is available on most major streaming services. Travis sings, and it's a nice moment. Katie opens the last gift, and it’s a classic courtship heart-shaped necklace. Travis then asks Katie if she would be his girlfriend, and she says she is the luckiest girl. Kelly & Gil, the whole Bates family, and Travis’s family are excited for the new relationship. Katie says this has been the best night of her life, and it keeps on getting better.

*Episode 18: The Show Must Go On!

The Bates family will be filming this episode on their own, with producers helping them remotely.

The episode opens with the Tennessee governor announcing a Safer at Home order for Tennessee. Kelly says their biggest concern at first was for the elderly, but as they learned more about the virus, they realized how dangerous it was and they wanted to minimize any threats. Jackson is on the way to ALERT, and they don't know what will happen there. Lawson and Nathan are in Arkansas, where Lawson is getting his pilot's license. Kelly says everyone should stay where they're at. Kelly is worried about her kids, and she wants a healthy fear to keep themselves safe.

At Tori & Bobby's apartment, shutdown is imminent and the Paines are helping them get everything done for the new baby before lockdown. The room will be for both boys, and Erin says she wants it to have space for toys and play. They add shelves with baskets and bookshelves. Tori says she is grateful her family’s help. Michael also arrives with homemade pot pies, bread, and salads for dinner. The nursery get finished.

Carlin and Layla Facetime her parents. Kelly is calling her kids and saying that the family should stop intermingling and should stay home. Evan is working and going day by day. Evan is essential, but worried about bringing the virus home.

Kelton and Bobby are in the plumbing truck, and the Safer at Home order has come down, requiring a shutdown of non-essential companies in Knox County for 14 days. Kelton thinks they are essential and they are calling the county to find out. The county confirms they are essential, so they are good to go. Kelton says if the business went down for a month, that could put them out of business altogether.

In Florida, the Websters are home. John is also considered essential so he is working with precautions. The three little girls are giggling and sticking their tongues out at the camera while he explains his work situation. Alyssa is home with the girls and they have a lot of energy, but they are glad to be healthy.

Jackson is driving from Texas after they cancelled ALERT. Jackson is bummed since he had been training for it for months. Some of the staff are elderly, so it will now be taking place in the fall. Jackson is in Arkansas, and Kelly tells him to meet up with Lawson and Nathan who are also there and to stay there.

In Arkansas, Lawson was trying to knock out his private pilot’s license when the virus hit. They had their own place and the airport let them keep going, so they kept working to get his license done. Nathan shows a video of the crashes to demonstrate what not to do, and then they go fly. Nathan says landing is the real test Lawson lands and says he feels good and he wants to show Nathan he is ready to take the test.

Josie is home with Willow, who has started crawling. Kelly says it was hard not to see the other married siblings. Josie says Willow is trying lots of new foods, including solids, and she has started teething. Josie says even though it has been chaotic since the virus hit, but it was a special time to slow down, be with Willow, and remember what is important.

Tori and Erin go for an ultrasound, possibly her last one before Kolter comes. Tori is excited and anxious to hear about what will happen with her delivery due to the new restrictions. Dr. Vick says she looks good, and that she will only be allowed to have Bobby with her for the birth. Tori says it is nice to be reassured by Dr. Vick and she knows things will be fine.

*Episode 19: Baby Boy Blessings & Basketball Mishaps

The Bates family is still filming themselves.

Kelly & Gil Facetime over to Tori & Bobby's. Tori is going to have a baby any day now, so Katie and Addee are staying with her to help prepare for the baby and to watch Kade while they're in the hospital. It seems that Addee is there now and Katie will join soon. Tori is worried about COVID-19, and having her sisters there helped her feel at ease. Kelly says it is hard that this is the first birth she won't be at or there shortly after. Kelly says she plans on Facetiming a few times a day and says they can call over if they need anything.

Bobby and Kelton are working, and Tori calls Bobby and says she is having contractions and her water might be leaking. Dr. Vick says to come in and get checked, so they are going to the hospital. Tori says she is nearly ready for an epidural, so Bobby rushes out. Addee and Tori are packing and getting ready to go.

Meanwhile, in Arkansas, Nathan and Lawson call over to the main Bates house to check in with their parents. Lawson is nearly ready for his check flight to get his license, but he is worried it will go wrong. Kelly tells Lawson that Tori is showing signs that she is going into labor. Lawson says technology usually keeps people distracted, but right now it has been keeping them connected.

Katie arrives at Tori’s to help; Tori is leaving Addee and Katie with Kade. Bobby arrives home from work, and they are ready to head out. Tori has Kade kiss her belly on the way out (very cute!) and Bobby says goodbye. Tori doesn't want to leave Kade, but she heads to the hospital. Carlin says everything has changed since she has given birth, and she is worried for Tori going through this at a scary time. Tori gets into the hospital and is 4 cm dilated; she is given her epidural. Tori Facetimes everyone to hang out during her labor. Tori gets to 6 to 7 cm and is progressing quickly. Michael is glad to be on Facetime with her family. Erin tells Tori that the boys got hurt on the basketball court. Trace and Warden collided during basketball, and Trace's eye won't open and he has a massive headache. They decided to head into the hospital, and Trace is admitted and given a scan. Gil and Warden are in the parking garage waiting. Gil says on Wednesday they should be in church, but instead they're in the ER.

Tori is pushing, and everyone is on Facetime with her and Bobby. One of the epidural guys held the phone while Bobby focused on being there for Tori. Over Facetime, Michael hears Kolter start crying and the family gets to see him. Tori says it was an unforgettable memory during a strange time. Michael tells Tori she made it look easy, and they hang up over Facetime. Kelly says she is grateful they could make a joyful time out of the situation and the family was so excited to be a part of this in the way that they could be. Tori says the world was hectic, but Kolter’s birth was very peaceful and surreal.

Meanwhile, Gil is still waiting for Trace. Gil jokes that during this really difficult time, the Bates had two kids in two hospitals. Trace is okay: he has a mild concussion but no bleeding on the brain, so he heads home to be careful. Tori, Bobby, and Kolter head home to introduce Kolter to Kade. Kade is so excited he yells when he sees Tori in the window, and Bobby brings the car seat in. Kade immediately yells "Baby!" and starts excitedly giggling. Tori takes him out, and Kade keeps saying "baby!" over and over again, and it is RIDICULOUSLY cute. Gil says there have been a lot of times they didn't appreciate until this separation and now it is a learning experience not to take these times for granted.

*Episode 20: Shelter in Bates

The Bates family is still in lockdown, and Kelly wants to do some projects while they're in quarantine. Lawson has come home from Arkansas—he flew in as a practice flight—and is helping Kelly with the pantry. Jud and Jeb are also helping them on a project in the pantry. Jeb and Jud look at the instructions and explain to Lawson how to assemble some shelves—however, Lawson wasn't planning on looking at the instructions. The boys figure it out, and Jud is frustrated that Lawson isn't listening to him, which makes the project take longer. They get the shelves assembled, and Kelly is glad they got this project done.

At Zach & Whitney's, Zach comes home from work; he has to stop the kids from running to hug him. Zach changes and scrubs his hands before greeting his family. The family then heads to the warehouse out back—due to the virus, only Zach & Whitney are able to work in the warehouse and the others are doing all they can from home. Zach & Whitney Facetime Carlin to show her new dresses, and Zach gets into showing off the detail. He says he thought he knew all he needed to know about women's fashion, but he has learned a lot about dresses during this time. Whitney can't wait until they can get everyone back together.

Lawson wants to treat his little siblings on their birthday, so Trace and Lawson take Jeb to the ranch to ride horses. Jud and Jeb are really into cowboys, and the guys are really looking forward to this time. They ride horses, and Jeb is a little scared but has a good time. Then, the boys build a bonfire. They grill hot dogs and roast marshmallows, and Jeb says he had a great time and can't wait for his birthday.

At Carlin & Evan's, the new couple is learning to cook. When Carlin got pregnant, she felt so sick, so they didn't cook a lot. Now that they’re learning, cooking has been a lot of fun: they've been doing chicken and rice, spaghetti, tacos, and burgers. They bring Layla into the kitchen, and both parents coo over her. Evan says they're binge-watching their baby, and probably driving her crazy. They eat out on their porch, and Carlin says they've valued their time as a little family, but they miss their extended family and hope to see them soon.

Lawson says these are trying times, and he is grateful their family is making the best of it. Michael says it has been nice to stay home with Brandon, even though it isn't quality time since she's studying so much. Josie says the slow time has been neat, and she's loved being one on one with Willow. Zach says they are grateful to be able to slow down now, but they can't wait to get back to normal.

*Episode 21: A Promise Ring & Unexpected Delivery!

At the Bates home, lockdown restrictions have been lifted and the family is working to finish some projects. Kelly says lockdown was difficult, and they have a lot of projects to do. The family is tackling the front of the house and the yard as well as taking down their Christmas lights (“It's summer!” Kelly jokes). Kelly says that as stores are opening, she is asking about getting more of the family together, since they'd been carefully staying apart due to COVID. As restrictions are lifting, Kelly wants to see her kids. Gil says they shouldn’t get the whole family together yet—they should watch as the state increases the allowed numbers at gatherings. He jokes around that 40 people should be ok, and Kelly says he just didn't want to buy the groceries to feed the whole family.

At Carlin & Evan's, the Stewart family is heading out for a little walk. Carlin says dealing with COVID as first time parents is stressful. Layla had been having some issues with her breathing, and the Stewarts have been working with her doctor to try to figure things out. They learned Layla had a small hole in her heart, but she is still having struggles. They've been nervous bringing her into the doctor during the pandemic, but they have been doing it and hope for the best. Carlin says she's been overwhelmed with the joy of Layla and the stress of her health conditions. Evan says nothing matures you like parenthood.

At Erin & Chad's, their yard is full of their playing kids. Chad is pushing Carson in the swing. Chad says he asked Bradley if he misses Bradley and Kaci and he said yes. Erin says they were worried about the boutique at the start of the pandemic, but people did a lot of online shopping and Zach & Whitney worked like crazy to make it work. Erin says she and Carlin want to take them a gift to show their appreciation for all they do. Erin calls Carlin and they decide to plan a getaway and drop off a basket for them. Erin asks if Carlin would be up to help watch the kids, and Chad jokes "why not? what's a few more?" They all decide this is a good idea, and they'll go ahead with it.

Nathan, Lawson, and Trace arrive at the barn to visit their horses. Lawson and Nathan had been in Arkansas, but since restrictions had started to lift, they returned to Tennessee to see their family and their horses. They groom their horses and prepare to ride, and they talk about what they've been doing. Nathan says he's been training pilots; every 45 days he used to go to the Philippines with MedicCorp, but since the coronavirus he's just been training pilots. Trace asks Lawson if he has any new relationships, and Lawson jokes he's starting things up again with an old flame: music. They then turn to Nathan and ask about the ring he's wearing. Nathan explains it's a promise ring; there's someone in his life, but he isn't talking about it to the public. Nathan says it is time to settle down, and move along with life, his career, and maybe marriage. He says the time is coming that he leaves the bachelor crew. Nathan asks if Trace is recovering from his breakup or back in the saddle yet. Trace jokes that he is back in the saddle, trying to grow from his last relationship and trying to heal. The guys head off on the trail, and Lawson says these times together are so important since they don't know when they’ll happen again.

At Zach & Whitney's, Bradley and Kaci bounce on the trampoline and Khloe sits with Whitney as she works. Whitney says having three kids, a business, and your husband working full time during a pandemic is crazy. Whitney and her kids play Mother, May I? and Whitney says they've just been spending time outside, trying new games, and having fun. Meanwhile, the Paines are driving to run up to Whitney & Zach’s porch and do a drop-off drive by. Whitney is in the backyard, and Erin text that there is something on the porch. The kids head to the porch and find the basket. There are snacks, candles, and a card. Whitney is touched, and she calls Erin to thank her. Erin says giving a gift is so fun, and you leave more excited and feeling good when you give a gift. She hopes Zach & Whitney will know how much they are appreciated.

*Episode 22: Never Before Seen on TV!

On this BUB special, the Bates family looks back on clips from this season that didn't make it into the episodes. If this seems disjointed, it is because we're jumping around the timeline.

Josie is close to welcoming Willow, and Kelly comes over to pack her baby bag for the hospital. All the Bates talk about their hospital bag must-haves: baby clothes, comfy pjs, lotion, phone chargers, etc. Josie is bringing her heating pad, at her midwives recommendation. Kelly says she likes to share with her kids, but she doesn't want to be a know-it-all or push anything on them. Kelly says everyone is different. Josie says her house is cleaned, everything is washed, and it is just a waiting game now. She says it is great to learn from her mom.

At the Balkas newly purchased home, the brothers have arrived to help work on their fixer upper. They are painting the cabinets and adding an island. Josie & Kelton are so excited for their home to come together, and they are both excited to get it livable and to move in.

Chad is working on the warehouse at Zach & Whitney's house, and he says it is crazy how fast the business is growing. Chad and Trace are installing a new AC unit for all the of the pregnant people in the warehouse. Trace jokes that Erin has a tough life, sitting in a comfy chair and working while he and Chad are putting in the AC unit, and jokes that they should trade jobs. But everyone is excited by the growing business.

At Crown Cosmetology School, Katie is doing Michael's hair. Jud and Jeb say they wouldn't let Katie cut their hair. Katie says at first she was just trying out cosmetology, but she is surprised how much she loves it, and she loves coloring hair. Michael says she doesn't hang out at school after class to make friends. Callie says Michael and Katie are so different. Carlin says they are both messy. Erin says they both like to help people. Zach says the both have darker hair, and Whitney says they don't, and then Zach jokes: "wait, which one is Katie?"

The couples are out to dinner, and Zach takes charge right away. Erin says food is his love language, and everyone is trying to figure out what they want. Zach knows they need an appetizer, and orders one as everyone is ordering drinks. Zach is excited when the food comes, and Whitney tells him to wait for a plate before eating. They enjoy their appetizers once plates arrive.

Alyssa & John take their girls out for ice cream in Florida along with Gil & Kelly. Everyone is excited to have ice cream. The little girls make some messes, but Lexi is enjoying the ice cream. Kelly tells Alyssa that Whitney's been having signs of labor approaching, and Kelly is worried she might miss the birth. Erin is also out of town for a baby moon, and so Whitney is hoping she won’t go into labor until Monday when everyone is back in town.

At a family barbeque, the youngest girls discuss Gil's grilling and says he's not great at it. Gil drops hot dogs and washes them off. Zach doesn't appreciate that, but Gil says when they were kids they would eat them like that.

The whole family is on a trip to Gatlinburg, and Travis is coming along. Katie gets nervous on rides, but Nathan and Josie get on a tandem bike swing ride where you're strapped in like a rollercoaster, and if you pedal, the bike flips over. Katie & Travis get on next to them, and when Katie sees her siblings flipping, she starts panicking and saying she won't do it. Travis starts pedaling, and Katie doesn't help. They end up just swinging back and forth.

At Michael & Brandon's house, it is fall and Michael & Brandon have raked up a big leaf pile. The younger siblings are over, and they talk about leaf houses. The older kids started the tradition of leaf houses, which is a big pile of leaves, and you use leaves to make basically the floor plan of the house. You were only allowed to walk in the doors, and they would have picnics and hang out. Very cute, tbh!

At the main house, the Bates siblings are playing Pictionary on a team of guys versus girls. Brandon goes first, and everyone is excited since he is good at drawing. Everyone gets his golf cart quickly. Erin is nominated to be the first girl—she and Carlin are the best in the family of the girls, according to Callie. Bradley is excited to jump in, and he goes next for the boys team. Everyone is impressed with his work. Kelly says nothing makes her happier than her full, loud house—especially with just 12 kids at home these days.

*Episode 23: Superdads!

It is Father's Day, and Erin says this year it seems extra special since there has been extra stress on dads since COVID; it’s a great time to say thank you. This year, Erin says it feels different since her kids are older and getting more involved. The Paine kids (not including Holland) paint birdhouses and talk about what they appreciate about Chad. Erin says she thinks they will be more excited to give him gifts since he means so much to all of them.

At the main house, Gil rounds up the guys to do PT with Jackson, since it seems he will be able to attend ALERT soon. Some of the guys question Gil's old school workouts, and Gil enjoys playing a drill sergeant. It is a hot day, and many of the guys are not wearing work out gear—some are in jeans and regular pants. Judson says he is getting drinks, but instead he and Jeb fill up water balloons. They return and start throwing them at their brothers. Gil says it felt good with how hot it was, and the guys end up enjoying a water balloon fight.

Kelly tells Gil that she needs to schedule her annual scope due to reflux. She has a condition called GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease), which has gotten more frequent and the acid has caused precancerous cells in her throat. Having 19 children weakened the muscle that prevents reflux. Kelly had to delay this care due to the coughing she's been experiencing, and Gil says he feels bad watching her go through this.

Back at the Paines' home, Erin, Carson, and Brooklyn collect herbs for a little family Father's Day meal. Erin is making a special dinner just for their family, since they’re not doing a big get together this year. Erin says cooking is an expression of love, and Erin is making lemon herb chicken. This section turns into a Purdue ad. Brooklyn and Carson put veggies on skewers for the grill. Chad grills and says this is the best way to spend Father's Day. Erin says Chad is a hands on, involved dad and she doesn't think her kids could have a better dad. The kids are so excited to give Chad gifts, and he loves them.

[TW: Miscarriage]
There is a card that explains this segment was filmed before Josie & Kelton went through a miscarriage, but that Josie & Kelton wanted the scene kept in "so the world knew their baby was entering Heaven as a child who was loved."

At Josie & Kelton's, the Balka family is sitting outside celebrating Father's Day—Kelton’s first with Willow. He says it is so special, and Josie tells him that Willow has a little present for him. He opens the box, and there are two handprints- a print one that says "Willow" and a gold one that says, "Coming Soon." Kelton says, "as in we're trying to have a second one?" and Josie says, "No, I'm pregnant. I just found out this morning." They are excited with the news.
[End TW: Miscarriage]

At the main house, the kids are decorating for a picnic and grilling for their dad. The four girls still at home take a photo, and they joke about being "the last Bates girls" and Katie jokes that she is trying to leave. Trace has grilled, and everyone enjoys a picnic. Seven of the Bates kids re married, Gil has 14 grandkids, and 12 kids at home (well, kinda—Lawson and Nathan aren't really here, they say). The girls got a bunch of treats for Gil, and then they give him praises like they do for birthdays. Gil says he felt really loved, and then everyone enjoys some ice cream. Kelly says it really was a great day, and they are so blessed.

A title card says: “6 weeks later.”
Carlin & Evan Facetime Gil & Kelly to inform them that Carlin & Evan both tested positive for Covid-19. Layla tested negative, but she was with Evan's family until one of them tested positive as well, and doctors told them to bring her home so she can nurse and hopefully get antibodies. But Carlin says they've been around the family, so everyone should get tested as well. Gil prays.

A title card at the end reads, "After filming completed in August, several other Bates family members tested positive for Covid-19. They have fully recovered and are grateful for everyone's thoughts and prayers during that challenging time. They continue to pray for everyone affected by the virus."
